Comments about Sea to Summit Bilge Pump:
This pump broke after just a few uses. The handle came disconnected inside the pump body and there is no way to repair it. Absolute junk.

Comments about Sea to Summit Bilge Pump:
This pump worked well the first time. I added about 6 inches of hose to clear the combing on my kayak. It broke the second occassion I used it. The stopper came unglued from the handle. It's inaccessible, stuck inside the chamber. Repairing it is impossible without risking damage.

Comments about Sea to Summit Bilge Pump:
There are two major problems with this pump:
1. It is several inches shorter than most other pumps I've looked at. On my kayak, the pump is not quite tall enough to clear the top of the coaming, so with every pump, about half of the water ends up right back in the boat.
2. It broke on the third use. While practicing wet exits at a paddling clinic, the handle broke off as I attempted to pump out my kayak. Luckily the instructor had a spare, but I would have been in major trouble if it had happened on a solo paddle.
I returned the pump and got a Seattle Sports pump instead. So far I have not had any trouble with that one.

Comments about Sea to Summit Bilge Pump:
After I write this i'm sure i'll manage to flip my kayak and need the pump. I haven't had to use it to empty my kayak, but did put it in the water and use it to try it. I bought this one because I found it to be built better and more comfortable to hold. I have a 17' kayak so it's easy for me to throw in my bungees in the front and have for easy access. The only con I can see is that they couldn't just throw in a hose to put on the pump for the evacuation, but then it would probably cost more. Bottom line is a pump is a pump, but this one is just nicer than the other one REI offered.
