          Comments about Mountainsmith Daylight Waistpack:

I got this in mid-December and have used it on 3 day hikes, varying in length of 5-9+ miles. I've been impressed wuth the carrying capacity as I've put 2 28 oz water bottles in the side net "pockets", a down vest + a waterproof/breathable parka + a neck gaiter + some lunch in the main pocket and the smaller rear pocket carries some emergency gear (nylon paracord, compass, knife, whistle, flashlight and first aid items). The main pocket also has the accessory pouch ( which is fixed and not removable, despite what Mountainsmith's literature shows), in which I have a pair of compact binoculars. Even with all this it appears that I could stuff a few more items into its' 700 cu in capacity. With all this gear loaded, the pack has carried extremely well, being comfortable and stable on all my outings. The 2 pair of adjustable load straps help to keep the load close to my body. Overall I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase.

            Comments about Mountainsmith Daylight Waistpack:

The straps that snug the pack up against the lumbar area of your back also unfortunately put a fair amount of torque on the waist belt, which is quite narrow at the buckle. This torque pulled the narrow belt (less than 1.5" wide) into my abdomen under my lower ribs, creating a fair amount of pressure on my diaphragm and making this fanny pack considerably more uncomfortable than other fanny packs I have used. Even snugged securely against my back, the pack bounced up and down with a full (9.5-pound) load. Perhaps this pack might've performed better with a considerably lighter load, but I wanted to use its entire capacity for hiking. For the price, I expected better performance.

              Comments about Mountainsmith Daylight Waistpack:

I just love this fanny pack! It has a very wide, thin, breathable, waist belt that grips my hips pretty well. That coupled with the the four adjustable straps and the load stays snug where it is supposed to be. I added triglides to the waist band so they would quit slipping out of adjustment each time you take it off. For a ten ounce bag this is HUGE! I can get 3 liters of water in it, food for the day, rain coat, camera and my journal and still have room to spare. It does not have lots of mini compartments. Most of the space is in the main compartment. The dimensions let it double as a book bag so I wind up using it throughout the week. This is a very light, thin, flexible bag with modest padding that does lots of things reasonably well while still being pretty comfortable. The larger bags were very bulky and much heavier. I am really happy with this bag as long as I don't overload it.

                Comments about Mountainsmith Daylight Waistpack:

This bag is a great addition to the lumbar line at Mtnsmith. I've previously owned both the Tour and Cairn and this quickly has become my favorite go to pack. It's very lightweight but you still feel like it's built to last. I've used it as a work bag, a lumbar why cycling and also for hiking. It's a great, all around pack. Well done Mountainsmith.
