Comments about Giro Gauge Mountain Bike Shoes - Men's:
I've got rather large feet for a woman. At a size 11 in women's, there aren't many options other than men's. In fact, there aren't any options. These fit perfectly! I've got somewhat narrow feet, but the Velcro bits cinch up the shoe perfectly.
Great for commuting or long rides. I haven't had any issues with chafing. Love them! Can't live without them!

Comments about Giro Gauge Mountain Bike Shoes - Men's:
I really liked these shoes - comfortable and stiff. However, one of the cleat mounting plates on the inside of the shoe started to rise up, forming a ridge on the inside of the shoe. Talk about a painful 50-mile ride! However, I tend to trust Giro and their quality of design and construction, and feel as if this may be an isolated incident, so I'll stick with the 4-star review. Upon warranty replacement, I upgraded to the Codes - and love them as well - very little difference between them and the Gauges, so go with whatever is cheaper.

Comments about Giro Gauge Mountain Bike Shoes - Men's:
I thought I would try these based on other reviews praising comfort. However these are not a very wide shoe. My toes were screaming after a little while even though I ordered a little over recommended size (I wear 10-1/2, ordered 44.5). Avoid these if you have wide feet. Otherwise looks like a nicely designed quality shoe.

Comments about Giro Gauge Mountain Bike Shoes - Men's:
It gets pretty wet and slippery up here and these shoes have performed great. Very comfortable*, great traction on sketchy surfaces, and easy to clip into spd's. I have wide feet and these things fit like a glove. Over a month on the shoes and no noticeable wear on the soles!
The variable arch supports are a great idea but I am not sold yet.
On occasion the ratchet mechanism has released while walking just before a ride. It has never done so during a ride, though, and I suspect it was just a matter of the ratchet clip not having seated all the way.
*The only bad thing about the fit is a need to shim my cleats. It feels as though I am putting too much pressure on my fifth metatarsil (the bone at the base of the little toe). Could be the shoe or it could be me - hard to tell.

Comments about Giro Gauge Mountain Bike Shoes - Men's:
My feet have never been so happy while riding. Very comfortable and adjustable. Over the years I've worn cycling shoes from Nike, Diadora, Lake, Shimano and some old skool brand I forget (made from kangaroo leather for slotted cleats!) and these Giro's are the best to date. Rode all over Post Canyon, Bend and Sisters and they performed wonderfully.
They are a wee bit on the spendy side, but are so comfortable I don't care. The sole is grippier than similar Sidi's (I slip less on rock than my buddy in Sidis) but it's also showing some wear already so long-term verdict on the durability of the sole is an open question.
