Comments about Keen Arroyo Pedal Bike Shoes - Men's:
I use these for commuting. Fairly efficient for riding, fairly comfortable for walking (as riding shoes go). Laces loosen easily - I may go to regular laces.

Comments about Keen Arroyo Pedal Bike Shoes - Men's:
I bought these shoes because I broke my pinky toe last week and I needed a riding shoe that would not put undue lateral pressure on the damaged toe. They worked out pretty well, all things considered, though they are not the performasnce shoe I'm used to with my Sidi Dominator 5s. They are kind of soft and floppy which is ok given my current needs. However, I would not recommend them as a serious MTB shoe

Comments about Keen Arroyo Pedal Bike Shoes - Men's:
I thought these would be a great alternative after I tried the Commuter II (not III, the II's that are now obsolete). They fit ok although the seem a bit narrow and unlike the more traditional Keen fit. The really big problem with them is that the lacing does not want permit you to do more than push DOWN on the pedal. If you pull up at all, and how if you ride with regular cycling shoes you would, they become loose and sloppy very quickly.
What these shoes need, and what the Commuter II and III both have is a velcro strap that goes over the instep. This is what provides the stability in the shoe and it doesn't come lose when you pull up. The Arroyos don't have this and it's a fatal flaw for a biking shoe. You don't need clipless pedal capability if all you are going to do is push down.
On top of that, as with many other walking/cycling shoes, these are heavy.
The reason these existed was to provide a wider choice than the too narrow early versions of the Commuter. Now, the Commuter III is a normal width sandal, is better constructed and is a far better biking sandal than the Arroyo.

These are too wide for my feet, but a narrower alternative that works for me (with my 15AA foot!) is the Keen Commuter. They may have been discontinued but you can still find them online.

Comments about Keen Arroyo Pedal Bike Shoes - Men's:
Purchased as first clipless shoe and found out that my heel is too narrow for this shoe to allow me to unclip. After two falls had to return. Have three types of Keens that work well that are "street shoes", so I thought these would work. Returned without a problem. Purchased Pearl Izumi X-Alp Seek IV and they worked out great.
Keen Arroyo would probably work for others with a wider heel, and more experience. Also, didn't like the lacing system.

This is my first "bike" shoe. I had been wearing the non-pedal version of these Keens for years on my mountain bike. Recently I switched to Egg Beaters on my mountain bike and needed some shoes that I could clip in. These have the same comfort as my non-clip ones. They work perfectly in the long hot Texas summers.

Comments about Keen Arroyo Pedal Bike Shoes - Men's:
Just received my second pair from REI. Last year I had planned on buying the open heel commuter shoe but am really glad that I bought the Arroyo. They fit my feet perfectly. Actually last year I bought a size 10 which is what I wear in normal Keen sandals but this year I bought a 9.5. I don't wear socks in the summer so the snugger fit is much better on the bicycle.
They are great to walk in, the sole isn't too stiff although when I'm climbing hills on the bike, it would be nice to have a slightly stiffer sole. Also, the soles did wear out fairly quickly, maybe because I spent so much time walking in them. The soles on the new pair seem to be made of harder rubber so perhaps they will wear better.
The one thing I didn't like about the old pair is that the cord tightener got loose all the time so I was always having to tighten it up especially off the bike. I wish Keen come up with something more effective.
All in all, they're the best cycling shoes I've owned. There's always a compromise between comfort and utility and for me, the Arroyos have hit the sweet spot

They are my first pair of bike shoes. I find them very comfortable and easy to use. They are not good in cold weather, need to remember to wear socks.

I will use this shoe for my recreational and touring rides. I have wide feet and have had chronic pain in my forefoot for sometime. I bought this sandal hoping the wide width would help relieve the pain. I have done rides of 25 to 60 miles in the shoes and so far no pain. Outstanding! The shoes are comfortable and easy to walk in which is great for touring and stopping to see the sites.

Comments about Keen Arroyo Pedal Bike Shoes - Men's:
This is my first pair of Keen cycling shoes and first time using anything with Crank Brothers. In spite of them being made in China, the build quality of these shoes is outstanding throughout.
They wear comfortably on and off the bike, and interface perfectly with my crank bros. mallet pedals. If I was only gonna own 1 pair of bike shoes (and I do now!), these would so be it. Can't wait to take them on tour next spring.
If I have 1 knock on them it's not really even the product's fault but yeaah they're so well ventilated that in cold weather they're pretty chilly. They're sandals, they're hole-y, what'd I expect?! The cold is still easily managed with a bit of neoprene thermal socks and thermal insoles or booties.
I wear em in 11.5. As far as sizing goes, people with wide (2 or 3E) feet such as myself can breathe a sigh of relief because they fit like a glove, no crowding of toes or struggling to get in and out of these shoes.
Quality!
