        My daughter used this bag to survive Bonnaroo, a massive music festival. She filled it several times a day with water and it was perfect for staying hydrated in a hot Tennessee summer. It is well-balanced and comfortable and has plenty of room for food, light jacket, phone, etc. - all the things needed to survive a long day of fun without having to go back to camp for supplies. The water never leaked and flow remained good.

          This backpack has lasted a total of 2 days with my 5-year old at Nature Day Camp. The built-in hydration pack helped her drink more throughout the day but the bite valve broke (not where she would have bit it) the first day! Then the strap came apart on day 2 of camp. Thank goodness for REI's return policy!

            We purchased two of these for our oldest daughters, ages 8 and 6, and they are wonderful!They are very easy to fill, and comfortable to carry. Our daughters carried them without complaint. I love the extra pockets for them to carry their own jackets, snacks, etc. The whistle on the chest-strap was an exciting discovery for the kids too!

              We got the Camelbak Scout for our three-year old son. Although we got it for hiking, he loves carrying it around the house (we remove the reservoir for daily play).

              We recently returned from Big Bend National Park where we hiked almost daily. We took our son on trails up to five miles long. He loved having his own pack (wants to be like his three older siblings). It was really nice that he had his own water supply.

              The Scout has Camelbak's new Antidote Reservoir, a definite improvement over the Omega Reservoir. The new quarter-turn cap and Quick Link System makes it easier to fill. The 50oz. reservoir holds plenty of water for younger kids.

              It is a little big for my three-year old son who is big for his age. I think it is intended for a five-year old. There's enough cargo space for lunch, juice box, snacks, a fleece and more. I think the pack will serve him well until he's about seven or eight. I wish it had some little pocket organizers inside.

              Overall, the Scout is a great little pack for active little adventurers. It has far more space than a toddler can carry, but that gives it room to grow with the child.
