Rated4out of5byOpie21fromGood Quality PackRecently purchased this pack when I saw it on sale and needed something larger and better quality than my old pack. I love this pack, for the price it can't be beat. With my two young sons tagging along and not carrying much of their own weight, I was able to stuff in a 3 man tent, 60m climbing rope, and misc climbing gear for an overnight trek with no problems. Front of pack opens wide for easy loading and unloading. Pass through channels on the back of the large side pockets are awesome for stowing long items like hiking poles. Gear loops on the bottom of pack allow you to secure sleeping pads, etc. as well. Pack handled weight with no problem and was very comfortable, I've got no complaints. After 2 months of rough use this has been a great pack.

Rated5out of5bySneaksfromYay Kelty! The Redwing is basically the most durable, most useful pack I've ever owned. It's size makes it perfect for day hikes, carrying school materials/compuer around campus, and even extended backpacking trips on the AT when the weather isn't too cold (thus requiring packing more warm clothing). Recently my first pack of this variety finally started getting some holes in the bottom because of the all the various dragging that occurred while scrambling over many rocks, and the waterbottle holders tore years ago. Even so, the pack as a whole has been amazingly durable lasting through many extending backpacking trips, daily use (seriously, I take the pack everywhere), and traveling around the world.
It's comfortable and spacious, and I am so pleased with it (as I am with my other Kelty pack).

Rated4out of5byBeagleOwnerfromSolid 2-3 Day BackpackI use the Redwing 50 on 2 night, 3 day trips or less. It has a lot of different compartments for storage. Easy to load with front entry. Thought it was easy to adjust for comfortable weight distribution. The frame can be adjusted over your knee to the curvature of your back. I wouldn't go past two nights unless you are real minimalist. Can fasten sleeping bag outside on bottom and/or pad on top to give you a little more room.
It's a tough little bag that is great for short trips. I'm 5'11" and 250lbs and it fits my needs great.
