Rated4out of5byDC582fromGreat for a beginner like meSince I'm still pretty new to climbing, I don't have a whole lot to compare these shoes to. I've climbed in two other shoes with velcro closures and they weren't snug enough for my narrow feet. These shoes have a symmetrical toe, which I've read is more for people with Morton's Toe, and although I don't have that condition, I still find that the shoes fit properly and are comfortable enough to climb for 40 minutes or so at a time.
The lacing pattern is great and allows for a high degree of control when it comes to getting the tightness where you want it. It took me some practice, but I can get them nice and snug so there's no wiggle room or slippage.
The rubber on the soles are nice and sticky, but firm. Not so firm though that you can't feel the holds.
Overall, I'm very happy with these shoes and would recommend them to others who have narrow feet and can't get a great fit with velcro.
