    I wore these sandals right out of the box for 8 hours while walking through water, swimming, and waterfall jumping at Havasupai Falls in The Grand Canyon. When I returned to camp, all sides of both feet had multiple chafe spots which are now bloodied scabs. It made the 11 mile trek back to the car the next miserable. Also, while river walking, rocks get in your sandals on every step. Instead, I am going to buy those funky toe fit sandals since there will be no chaffing and no rocks in shoes.

      The previous versions of the Dozer sandal were great: grippy soles, waterproof uppers, and low-key style. They looked just like casual leather sandals, but they were just as comfortable hiking a mountain trail. Even after four years of abuse, I could walk miles and miles of broken terrain in the old Dozers. And they looked good enough that I could wear them to work. With the new Dozers, however, Teva has killed their golden goose. Teva has updated the Dozer III with gel in the insole, about an inch of extra rubber in the outsole, and completely thrown off the movement of the shoe with extra "engineering". The new version does not feel good and does not give me a feeling of stability; I don't like walking in them for any distance whatsoever. These shoes were still giving me blisters after two weeks of wear. And to top it all off, the new version is uglier than a pig in a prom dress thanks to the 'sport styling'. Basically, Teva tried to make a hiking boot shaped like a sandal with running shoe styling thrown in, and failed at all three. Orange and grey? Really?

      I hated the Dozer III sandals so bad I couldn't even give them away--nobody else would wear them, either. So now I'm wearing old-fashioned leather fisherman's sandals even though they are not waterproof.

      It is difficult for me to find shoes with enough arch support for me, and of course sandals don't accept inserts well. That made me want these as soon as I tried them on.
      The shoe was promoted to me as better than my previous Teva sandals because they were completely synthetic and better water shoes. While this may well be true, I don't recommend walking any distance in them because of lack of padding in the back strap. And because it is synthetic, it also doesn't give.

        Bought these for my yearly fly-fishing trip in Colorado, but had an emergency derail the trip. Had planned to use them walking upstream, in the stream with a thin pair of neoprene booties. Since I didn't get a chance to use them all I can give is my first impressions, which were all good! Next Year!

            These caused blisters on the back of my heels because there wasn't enough padding on the back-strap. After 3 or 4 months, one width of the side, front and back material turned ash color and the rest didn't fade. I returned these to REI and bought Keen H2's which are far more comfortable and only slightly heavier.

            Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
