The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Deuter Kid Comfort III Child Carrier:
When I first brought the Kid Carrier III home, my daughter was barely three. She immediately took to it, sitting/standing in it to watch television. And she loved being in it when we hiked White Mountain National Park and places all around the city. It's easy to slip on and off to let a child hop in or out of it. And its architecture takes maximum stress off of the back—it's very comfortable. I bought this item prior to becoming a Family Ambassador for Deuter; and though I paid full price for this item, it really is worth every penny. My daughter will remember those family hikes for the rest of her life.

Comments about Deuter Kid Comfort III Child Carrier:
We first used this pack when our son was 6 months old. We took him on a 5 day pack trip 20 miles back in. This pack has performed very well! We took our son again last fall when he was 2.5 years old on an 8 mile hike for 4 days. We love the amount of stuff we can pack into this thing with the kiddo in it! Grantid, the pack does get heavier the more you stuff into it with the kid riding.
A few critiques: the mesh water bottle pockets are not big enough for a 1L bottle, the shoulder strap system is quick but could be quicker, it needs foot stirrups for the child.
Pros: can hold a lot of stuff!!! We love that the rain/sun fly is attached and integrated into the pack. We also love/hate the tall headrest.

I've used this product on a trip, backpacking over 20 miles through parts of PA and I've hiked up above 11,000ft in CO. Both my wife and I have used this pack with our son. He seems to like it. He's fallen asleep in it on long hikes. The main reason for choosing this product over the others was the appearance of the belt. The bulk of the weight should rest on your hips so the comfort of the belt is important. This was really comfortable and it felt stable with the chest harness. The child is securely fastened. Deuter is a high quality brand and I would buy this product again over any other.

I will not leave for any trip without this. I purchased this when my son was 8months old and now he's 3yrs old and everytime he gets in still he smiles as I lift him up. The down side is evertime I mow the yard he cries for me to put him in the backpack. Most of the time I keep it in the car cause I find it's perfect for so many outings.
BUY IT! ! !

Comments about Deuter Kid Comfort III Child Carrier:
I bought this carrier about 2 years ago before going on a hiking trip in Maine. My husband carried our then just over 1-yr old extensively on a few hikes and she enjoyed being in the carrier and was able to fall asleep easily. We've used the carrier since on a couple of hikes and also on a few trips - last year during a trip to Montrel/Quebec (our daughter was then just over 2) and most recently just over the past few weeks in Istanbul (she's now almost 3 and around 25 lbs), where a stroller wasn't so useful because of the poor condition and narrowness of the sidewalks and the many stairs in historic buildings. The carrier has really held up, except for one of the plastic notches on the stand, which broke off early on. My one wish would be for Deuter to design a carrier canopy that covers the child's legs as well, so that it's truly weatherproof.

Bought this backpack 3 or 4 years ago and I have never regret it. The Wife and I use it for our 3 year old who never liked strollers and also use it for our 1 year old . Both baby's around 10 to 12 months could go in it and loved it. We use it for everything from hiking to going to the farmers market. Holds quite a bit. Nothing negative to say.

Comments about Deuter Kid Comfort III Child Carrier:
The KCIII is a great pack that will make it easy and comfortable for you and your child to get outside. We've had our daughter in sincce about 6 mo. and she's almost 2 now. Most importantly the KCIII is comfortable for the child. Everything is padded, including a big pillowy chin rest and padded side that offers neck support when baby konks out. Our daughter loves getting in the KCIII.
For the sherpa, the KCIII is super easy to adjust with one velcro strap, so parents can trade off with ease. It's got a lot of storage so if one parent takes it they have room for all of baby's need and enough extra space for mom or dad's items. The pack has an oversized kickstand that is really solid and stable, big front and back straps for lifting the pack onto your back, and is really, really comfortable to carry. It's large, which is a draw back in tight spaces or crowded busses, but the full shade keeps the sun, rain, tree branches, etc. off your child and seems like would help if we ever took a spill. The pack cleans up easily- soap and water - and still looks great after 1.5 years of abuse.
The best thing I can say is that it's so comfortable and easy to use, that'll it will get you and baby outside! If you're in a more urban environment or likely to go on shorter walks and hikes, the KCI might be a better option due to it's smaller size, length and weight.

My Husband is 6'3". He carries our son who is 2 and a half. We have taken this pack to 4 or 6 national parks with multipal day hikes in each. We took it to Yellowstone for 2 weeks last year and will be bringing it to yellowstone for three weeks again this year. Having spent the money on a nice pack allows us to enjoy places with our son that would not be possible other wise. My husband and I are avid hikers and love getting out. The only complaint I have is the zipper in the larger compartment is a challeng to close due to a square shape. Over all Im 5ft and my husband is 6'3" and the pack works for both of us.

Comments about Deuter Kid Comfort III Child Carrier:
So this is a great carrier. Comfortable, relatively lightweight, pretty easy to use (Though getting it setup to my body took awhile, I think I got that dialed)The baby likes it and it carries a ton of extra stuff. I only gave it a 4 out of 5 because 5 would mean PERFECT and there are a couple of very very minor issues. If I could have given it a 4.5 I would have. The hooks that attach the sunshade onto the loops are tiny and difficult to use, as are the hooks on the accessory rain cover. There are no stirrups or supports for babies feet so they just sort of float in the breeze. They may not mind this, but I think it would be a nice bonus feature or even an add on accessory that I would purchase. The "Mirror" it comes with is very cheap. It is simply a piece of poorly cut mirrored plastic with some Velcro on it. Yes, it allows you to view your child in a pinch but I think they could make it out of a bit better material since it is one of the features they point out.
Again, all in all this is a great Carrier and I highly recommend it over the competitors as I tried them all on. But this one just seemed to fit better for me. I also went with the Kid Comfort III over the II because of the built in shade and high back. I feel that the high back would provide at lest some support for the child in the event of a trip or fall on my part.
I have only put about 15-20 miles in with this carrier and I have loved every minute of it (After I got it dialed in that is!). Buy it, you wont be sorry!

We use the pack to hike with our 7 month old. Currently she is a little small for the pack but she will grow into it and is secure while in it. Make sure to adjust the pack to fit you as it's much more comfortable when it fits you correctly. I'm 6'4" and it fits me great, along with my wife who is 5'5". Anyone with a baby knows that they need to travel with a lot of stuff, this pack held it all plus some adult stuff.
