The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Deuter Futura Pro 34 SL Pack - Women's:
So far I've taken this backpack to Yosemite (in the snow), Utah Canyonlands/Arches (in the rain and snow), and Zion. I'm a minimalist, so I can easily pack enough things for a week's worth of travel, but ideally I would say it's for 3-5 days. There are plenty of straps to improvise. I fit a 4 person tent, a sleeping bag, clothes, cooking materials, first aid, climbing gear, and strapped a sleeping mat to the outside. Everything fit wonderfully. The zippers are heavy duty.
I was amazed at how well it stayed dry in the rough spring weather, and how comfortable it is with a considerable amount of weight. The breathing section behind the back is hand's-down the best part. I usually hate backpacks because of the overheating, but the sturdy mesh vent is amazing. All of my camping buddies are jealous.

I bring this backpack to Utah, Yosemite, Grand Canyon you name it. It's tough, comfortable, and the best part is definitely the breathing space in the back. There's a mesh layer between your back and the bag itself that gives about 2" of breathing room. Hands-down my favorite.
The zippers are strong, stays dry, and the pockets expand to hold a surprising amount of space. Fits enough for 4-5 days worth of backcountry trips (depending on how minimalistic you are)

I wanted something larger to replace my 24L pack, that was too hot on my back. Deuter 34sl is comfortable, sits off my back so I stay much cooler. I had occasion to use the waterproof cover this week when caught unexpectedly in a brief snow squall. Easy to use and it works. The big surprise however came today. I inadvertently slipped into a creek, through about 1 inch of ice, up to my neck. With some help, I managed to get out and home safely. (Glad I was wearing merino wool undershirt, and 2 pairs of wool socks!). The big surprise however was that the contents of my pack were for the most part dry!!! I was in the creek up to my neck, for a full 30 seconds. My waterproof fleece in the bottom compartment, had ~ a 3 inch SQ area that was wet; my down vest stuffed in the top was dry. When I emptied my pack at home, I fully expected to be tossing out waterlogged first aid supplies and other items. Not the case. My lunch was in pristine condition; even the contents of the map pocket on the outside were mostly dry... maybe barely damp... The only things that were truly wet were the contents of the side pockets, and the water proof cover which dried in no time. Btw... Useful feature: being able to unzip the bottom of the pack for complete air flow through the pack. I highly recommend this one!

I recently got a job where I didn't need to drive to work anymore. I am an avid runner and needed a bag big enough to fit a change of work clothes and a towel and shoes, but comfortable to run with. I'm also a guy, but I'm short. A lot of the men's back packs didn't quite fit me so I tried this one and it works. The bag itself is very functional and all the pockets are well placed with excellent amount of space for my needs. I also like the seperate compartment on the bottom for quick access with a trap door. In other bags if bury an item in the bottom you got to fish out from the top.

Comments about Deuter Futura Pro 34 SL Pack - Women's:
This pack is comfortable and easy to move in. The slightly angled hip strap is really nice for us girls. Highly adjustable and there are quite a few compartments. The suspension on your back keeps you much cooler. I have been out on day hikes and have gotten stuck in the rain twice and used the rain cover that tucks into the little bottom pocket. The only negative thing I have to say is water stills gets in the rain cover only at the very bottom, and I'm guess it's because the hip straps are exposed and get wet. The bottom compartment is separate from the main compartment as long as you keep that flap zipped up inside. I had some cliff bars and fruit in plastic bags in the bottom pocket and water did get in there. The rest of the bag was bone dry. If you get stuck in a downpour, just make sure there isn't anything in that pocket you don't want wet.

My advise for buying a pack is to fall in love the moment you put it on, and I did! Great pack for the comfort seekers out there. I was able to ration my gear, clothes, food, and water for 3 days. Packed a bit heavy but the hips did all the work leaving my shoulder free of pain and discomfort.
The airy back is such a blessing now that the warmer GA. temps are rising so late this March. You are one with the pack and movement is free, not restricted. Bottom line... I love this pack!!!

Extremely comfortable pack. I actually used this pack traveling Europe and it was perfect for long walks to train stations, while not being so huge that I was ramming into people in the city.
I love this pack, being a 34L it has a pretty narrow inside chamber, but it's great for extended hikes, can fit all your weather gear, lunch and accessories comfortably.
I haven't tried it yet, but I bet with a minimal pack you could get a one night camp out of her.
I prefer it's fit and feel over my Osprey 65.

I took this pack out to Snow Valley Peak in the Lake Tahoe, CA area with varying weather conditions such a rain, wind, and snow. I was able to pack my essentials and layers without feeling like the typical 20+ pounds I have been carrying with my Camelbak Rim Runner. I had some bounce toward my head, but that was because I was able to extend the pack away from me so I could wear my pink cowgirl hat. It was a very comfortable 12 mile strenuous hike with varied weather. I strongly recommend this backpack. I will be summiting Mt. Shasta in 1 day with it in August.
