First, this travel mug is not a vacuum bottle. It is an excellent travel mug and does what a travel mug is supposed to do-keep drinks warm (or cool) for a reasonable time. The handle is perfect for holding the mug and the lid and splash guard are the best I have ever seen in a travel mug. At the current sale price it is an excellent value.

This is a ton better than rei's older travel mug. Keeps coffee warm, fits in our two car's cupholders well. I agree with some other reviewers that the lid will splatter a few drops if you're not careful, & it would be nice if it were dishwasher safe. Overall it's a pretty good mug that I'll keep using most mornings.

I got this mug to replace REI's Double Shot Press Mug, which started wearing out after a year-and-a-half. I like the shape, style, and practicality of this mug. It's a little smaller than I would have liked, but the vacuum-sealing makes up for that. It seems to keep drinks hot way longer than plastic or non-vacuum-sealed mugs.

This mug is not microwave or dishwasher safe, but I didn't put that in the cons because most quality insulated mugs aren't. I don't mind hand-washing it to get a higher quality mug.

One other thing - the color of the sharkshin is a little different from what's pictured. On the website it looks silver, but it's really more of a metallic charcoal color. It still looks cool, just wanted to mention that.

The mug is well balanced and a good size. The handle works well and can hangs on a belt! It is very insulated nice for cold drinks as well. It is not a thermos the lid allows the liquid to cool off a little bit, fill and drink at your
leisure. The lid is a good design, simple to clean threads on nice and it snaps closed, it can be held upside down with no leaks. Once you started drinking though, watch out if you snap it closed. The little bit of liquid in the track will splash a little coffee in you face if not careful.

Great travel mug - fits into most car cup holders (even BMW X3, which is finicky). Beverage stays nice and hot for the commute. Pretty easy to clean (hand wash only!) Sliding lid snaps pretty tight and keeps the beverage in the mug. The only complaint I have about this mug is the sliding lid ... when the mug and lid is cold, the slider opens and stays open. However, after a few minutes of filling the mug with hot beverage (which IS the purpose of this travel mug!), the slider doesn't stay open. So as you sip the hot beverage, the slider slides down and hits your nose/upper lip. I'm used to now holding the slider up with the tip of my nose before I take a sip. Kind of annoying -- will check with REI customer service to see if my mug is a lemon, or if that's just the way it goes.

If the slider lid didn't fall....FIVE STARS.

Ok down to the dirty, This mug is Awesome! I took it duck hunting a couple months ago in sub freezing, I usualy can warm my hands on my mug but this one has NO heat escaping out the sides so it keeps thing hot way longer than most mugs. However the lid could use a upgrade all the heat come out the lid which is just plastic and also looks strange. But no worries its still easy to drink out of and keeps this hot almost as good as a thermos.

If you need a mug this is the one for you.
