I bought this for a 2 week trip to Italy. I thought I needed a backpack for portions of the trip but that I would want to wheel it most of the time to save my back.
First off, it was the most expensive of the packs I looked at but it seemed to have the best backpack straps with the most padding and a chest strap. I own a very old Eagle Creek convertable backpack/duffle that I loved but I needed the wheelie aspect so I bought this one.
I had so much trouble with the zipper connecting the daypack to the main pack that I have decided to return it. When the daypack is full, it is virtually impossible to zip it to the main pack! I had to empty it out in order to get the zipper to work. Not very practical for on the road conversions. Even when I got the zipper aligned, it caught on material on the daypack and got stuck!

I bought this set for a recent 2-week trip to Peru that involved moving around from place to place quite a bit. I found the lack of any interior divisions in the main bag frustrating. I'd looked at it as an advantage (increasing carrying capacity) at first, but it turned out to be very impractical. I guess I'll have to go ahead and buy their divider system. That bugs me. If it needs dividers, just include them. Don't make me buy all these separate pieces.
The day pack is great, except for one flaw. There's a wonderful interior pocket in the larger compartment that's the perfect size for carrying my Macbook Air or iPad; however, the zipper access to that compartment is at the front while the pocket is in the back. This creates an overhang from the top of the pack that limits access to that pocket, especially if the bag is packed more than half full. The effect is that it's a great pocket for things you want to carry with you all the time, but don't want to actually use because you have to unpack quite a bit in order to access anything in that pocket. If the zipper had been placed toward the back or even in the middle of that section of the bag, this wouldn't have been an issue.
Still, the set seems durable, was easy to carry, comfortable and easy to spot at baggage claim. I'm hoping that purchasing the organization system will help resolve the problems I had with the larger pack. The poor placement of the zipper/interior pocket on the smaller pack is just something I have to work around. On this trip, that meant unpacking half my day pack every time I wanted to pull out the computer. Fortunately, that was usually in the evenings in my hotels, not during the days that were mostly spent hiking archeological sites.

I'm a missionary so I travel a lot to all sorts of environments. I work in 1st world offices as well as the bush of Africa and the Amazon of Brazil. The packs size, versatility and toughness perform well so far.

I bought this wheeled bag/backpack combo for a recent trip to Chile and Argentina. I picked it primarily for the sleeve on the daypack that allows it to be securely placed on top of the suitcase so that both bags can be stylishly wheeled together. On this trip, I never had the need to use the backpack straps on the main bag, but it was nice to know that they were there. (I recommend one of Osprey's wheel-less backpacks if you plan to carry your bag on your back a lot.) Initially, I wasn't too crazy about the way this bag looked, but I had learned to love it by the end of my trip. It was just the right size, not too big or bulky when I needed to lift it up, but big enough to fit a good size wardrobe, some new purchases and several bottles of Argentinian wine. The only thing this bag lacks is an internal pocket or two to store those items small items that I like to leave in my large bag throughout my trip.

First of all I just got this bag after hours and hours of hands on research. It is the most expensive because it is the most comfortable bag to carry and extremely functional. I actually bought last year's model for nearly half-price from my local REI store. OMG, what a deal. I travel to Thailand 4 times a year. You have to be able to carry all your gear in one bag because once you are outside Bangkok, the taxis become small motorcycles. If you can't put your luggage on your back and ride a motorcycle, you either get to walk in 95 degree heat (not a good choice) or wait 2 hours for a taxi that charges you twice as much because you are American Farang(LOL). I also have degenerative disk disease so carrying tons of weight for a long distance is very hard on me even though I am a very strong athlete. This bag is big and meant to be checked on a series of long flights to Asia. I have never had anything lost on Korean Airlines so no worry about checking the wheeled part. I carry my medical supplies (insulin, etc.) in the detachable pack and other non-liquid necessities (I am not allowed to say more). Anyway, spend the money and get the best money can buy. Go cheap and you will always be disappointed! One-hundred more dollars is nothing compared to what you will spend on a month long international trip!
