Comments about Therm-a-Rest Trail Pro Sleeping Pad:
I am a 10-15 time a year car camper, going out with children and/or buddies about once a month. I've been using the TrailPro for the past 6 or 7 trips. For the past 3 trips I've stored the pad inflated behind our couch as recommended in the instructions.
Things I liked about the pad were its ease of inflation, its realitively light weight and its nifty stuff sack.
Unfortunately the pad has some sort of slow leak which would leave it with only the padding come morning.
In addition, my 6'2" frame must "map" differently than most folks as I got pressure points in my lower ribcage and front of my pelvis even when the pad was fully inflated (before any leaks). Resting on my back would cause my middle back to hurt, something that never happened with my Baseline.
I've tried to "live with it" but between the leak and the discomfort THIS TrailPro is going back as soon as I can get back to the store.

Comments about Therm-a-Rest Trail Pro Sleeping Pad:
This is one great pad. I've had it for a while and it's gone through quite a bit. I love the 2-ish inches of loft (I only inflate it to about 1.75 inches, mum's the word)and it's the warmest sleeping pad I've ever had. During spring-fall, I can barely get into a sleeping bag otherwise my back starts sweating, so I would take this up a mountain if you're doing any summer camping. As for Winter, this is one of the best pads on the market. I've lived in the Northwest for most of my life, and most of my camping time is done on some of the tallest peaks there, and this pad keeps me nice and toasty.
So down to the real business;
I still haven't managed to get it to self-inflate, but that would probably be user error, since it usually is, all of those pansies who switch out because they can't work their gear right are...well...a bunch of pansies. It only takes about 30 seconds to blow it up to a nice, comfy, warm state.
As for size, for what it's worth, it's small-ish. I use a Kelty Coyote, and this packs in fairly well. If you're highly concerned about weight, don't get this pad, it is heavy, but I think it's worth it for the comfort and warmth.
The price is definitely worth it for the comfort.
So all around, it's durable, well worth the cost, heavy, comfy, and warm. I would recommend it to anybody who's willing to sacrifice weight for comfort.

Comments about Therm-a-Rest Trail Pro Sleeping Pad:
Just picked this up since I needed a better pad for the colder months. I need a good pad since I sleep in a hammock and need to stay warm from the wind. This pad is the perfect size and is incredibly warm and super comfortable. Very pleased with my purchase.
Whether you are in the trees or sleeping under the stars on the ground this pad is super warm and is sure to keep you comfortable throughout the night.

Comments about Therm-a-Rest Trail Pro Sleeping Pad:
Awesome pad! I have taken this pad on numerous camping trips and have no problems at all. It will help keep you warm and keep you from sleeping on rocks. I just roll it out in the tent and let it self inflate while I get a fire going or cook dinner. A few quick breaths into the pad before closing the valve and you're set to have a very comfortable nights rest.

Comments about Therm-a-Rest Trail Pro Sleeping Pad:
I use this pad backpacking, and I like it a lot. It's comfortable, and inflates great, but the problem is the way it stores. I have the Crestrail 70 and if I roll it and store it in the stuff sack it comes with, it takes up 1/3 to 1/2 the space in the pack above my sleeping bag. My solution since I like the comfort and thickness was to contact cascade designs and get one of their therma rest "gearview" water proof stuff sacks that are long and narrow. When packing the pad instead of rolling it in half first like a taco, just roll it straight up and leave it 26" wide (I have the large pad) and strap it to a lash point outside the pack and free up all the internal space. plust the gearview stuff sack protects the pad better. Now I just use the original therma rest stuff sack for packing other gear. I used the same solution for my girlfriend and we are both very happy with it.

Comments about Therm-a-Rest Trail Pro Sleeping Pad:
I have been backpacking for over 30 years. This is my second Thermarest mattress. I only had to patch one hole in my last one. With proper care they will last a very long time. I am going to pass my old pad down to my son.
Service and delivery comments:
REIs ordering process and shipping was great. They are great folks to deal with. I have spoken to there tech dept. before and they gave me advice on products I did not buy from them.

Comments about Therm-a-Rest Trail Pro Sleeping Pad:
I purchased this product for my wife before our Kilimanjaro trek as a safety choice after doing extensive research into the reliability of the newer insulated blow up pads... even the highly rated NeoAir has a large number of serious complaints. So I figured, go with the tried and true. I'm still using a 20 yr old ThermaRest and it works wonderfully. So much for that plan. The pad developed a nonrepairable leak along the seam on day two of our trek. Needless to say we're returning the pad and are going to wait for reviews of the new REI blow up pad to roll in. Hopefully they are manufacturing it themselves and not outsourcing to Big Agnes...because a reliable lightweight sleeping pad is despirately needed.
Also note that my 20yr old pad self-inflates better than this pad brand new.

Comments about Therm-a-Rest Trail Pro Sleeping Pad:
I bought the Trail Pro about a year ago and have since backpacked in Big Bend and Yosemite within the last year...for a total of around 75 miles of use. I have also used the pad in a few casual camping excursions. The pad did not stand up to the rigors of the backcountry. Number one it now does not hold air through the night due to developing small leaks from just normal wear while backpacking. I bought the pack cover for protection and it still developed leaks. It is hard to air up. The self inflating design doesnt really do the trick if you are looking for a firm mattress to sleep on. Having to exert a lot of energy to air it up after hiking 10-15 miles in a day is not pleasant. It is bulky to strap to a backpack and hard to pack in general. It is a comfortable sleep when it holds air, but I would suggest using it for a more casual camping experience. For the price, I am dissapointed in its durability. For a avid adventurer, I would suggest using the Therma-Rest foam pad. Its super light, does not require air and wont develop leaks. It's an easy set up after a long days hike. Hope this helps!

Comments about Therm-a-Rest Trail Pro Sleeping Pad:
When you have to sleep on a cold, rocky ground you won't get much sleep without additional padding. In the rocky mountains it almost seems too easy to puncture your typical blowup mattress, so these are ideal in such situations. I received two of these as gifts and they've drastically improved the quality of sleep I get while camping. For car campers, I would recommend purchasing a cheaper pad. However, these pads are fantastic for backpacking. They pack down pretty well, and are very light. Not gonna lie though, packing two of them in a row tires out my hands.

This is the ideal pad for hikers who are looking for comfort and light weight. It packs easily, inflates without a lot of hassle, and is easy to clean up if you make a mess on it. Highly recommend this product. Four stars dude!
