The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Novara Metro Gel Double Bike Shorts - Men's:
This product has performed better than expected. The fit of the shorts are very good and the waist band is high enough that there is no worry about them working there way down during a long ride ( a problem that I had with another brand). The padding in the shorts is great. I would definitely recommend these shorts for anyone mountain biking or road biking. The material is very quick to dry after stream crossings

Comments about Novara Metro Gel Double Bike Shorts - Men's:
Sometimes, lycra bike shorts just aren't right. These fill the bill, yet they are clearly designed for cycling. Stylish enough for you to be dressed for shopping without looking out of place, yet the padded knickers keep you comfortable. The zippered pockets are great for shopping or casual lunch rides, but they are uncomfortable if loaded and you are doing a long ride. Tough enough for cross country off road riding, they also look good with a T shirt for urban rides.
All around good versitle gear!

Comments about Novara Metro Gel Double Bike Shorts - Men's:
I found these online and thought they would be the perfect alternative to skin-tight bike shorts for casual rides. I tried them in the store and did not buy them because of the fit. I am 5'10" 32/33 waist and I could not even button the medium, which I wear in every other brand. Yet as one other reviewer mentioned the rise is huge for the size and the diaper feeling was significant - a pair of bike shorts or bike briefs under a pair of street shorts would be much lighter and more comfortable. These were really bulky due to the heavy pad and liner even though the fabric is lightweight.A good idea for an open niche in bikewear but not well executed.

I wear a pair of these on my daily ride. Fits my middle-aged waistline well. Pockets provide good locations for keys, ID, and phone...some zip close, some snap close.

Comments about Novara Metro Gel Double Bike Shorts - Men's:
I've reached a point in my life where I don't feel comfortable riding around in tight spandex bike shorts, although I've always liked the padding and still want it. Also carrying a wallet/iphone while on casual rides had led me to wearing the spandex under a pair of bulky cargo shorts so I could have pockets. Not that comfortable a solution. So when I saw these shorts (on sale), on the website, I said "perfect" to myself.
I was hesitant to order these shorts on-line before trying them on, so I went to an REI store and tried both the L and XL. I'm a 36-waist and 5'-11". The XL was way too big (the gel pad/liner hung halfway down my thighs). Large was the best choice. Another reviewer said that they feel like wearing diapers when walking. True, but that's the intent. They're bike shorts, not walking shorts, but can serve as both. On the saddle these pants are very comfortable, both around the waist and in the padding area. I also like the secure pockets for storing phone/wallet etc. They seem well constructed and dry quickly. And they look like normal shorts when getting off the bike to buy a bottle of sports drink at the convenience store.
I recommend these shorts. I would say that they run pretty close to the listed size. They are comfortable, practical and at the sale price, a reasonable value.

Comments about Novara Metro Gel Double Bike Shorts - Men's:
Alright, I bought these shorts a couple of years ago and they are still in great shape! I agree with the previous comment about them feeling slightly diaperish when walking around, but they don't look diaperish when worn and when in the saddle they are very comfy. These are a stylish short if you want to have all the fun and benefits of cycling in a well padded pair of shorts, but you're not ready to commit to the "pro cycler" look. I ride a Road bike 10-30 miles a day and these shorts have yet to disappoint.

Comments about Novara Metro Gel Double Bike Shorts - Men's:
These shorts were in the mailbox when I got home from work, so I threw them on and hit the local pub crawl. At first they felt oddly tight, but after a few minutes dodging cars, they stretched out and got really comfy. Frakkin' awesome gel chamois, and plenty of pockets that nothing falls out of. After 15 miles and 5 beers, I'm impressed.

Comments about Novara Metro Gel Double Bike Shorts - Men's:
This is a very lightweight, breathable MTB shorts for the one's who will not otherwise settle with the really tight cycling pants. the cushioning is just right for me; not too bulky and not too thin (and i weigh 195 lbs). I have worn them during hail and rain, and also during a warm 75+ weather, and so far it has been taking the beating like a champ. It doesn't get too wet from sweating/rain, but if you're sweating in a public place your butt will leave an outline on the seat. FYI

Comments about Novara Metro Gel Double Bike Shorts - Men's:
I was looking for a pair of shorts for my 25mi round-trip commute that wouldn't force my co-workers to be subjected to the form-fitting snugness of my roadie shorts once I got to the office. I use my road bike to commute, and the seat is fairly small/aggressive, so I wanted something with a chamois built in. These shorts seemed to fit the bill, and they haven't disappointed. They seem breathable/comfortable on my daily commute in 90+ deg heat, and they're always dry by the end of the workday when I go put them back on for the ride home.I'm 6'4" with a 32" waist, and the medium fits well; maybe slightly on the snug side, but well well enough once they're on as to not cause bunching or chafing. (I think the other reviewer that claimed not to be able to get the shorts over their knees may have gotten a small pair mislabeled as med).My only complaint is that after one wash, some of the threads on the zipper seam have started to fray and hang loose. I hope it's not a sign of things to come, but so far after multiple wearings everything else seems to be holding up well.I do like these shorts, [...]

These are insanely small, I wear a 32 and the Mediums were so tight that I could barely pull them up past my knees.
Now REI is going to start making me have body image issues, thanks!
