Comments about Black Diamond HotWire Quickdraw Set:
This is a good all around quickdraw. Im glad BD upgraded the dogbone width from 10mm to 14mm. Visually the quickdraw assures me that it will perform it's job easily. The wider dogbone also prevents the quickdraw from twisting making it easire to clip in the rope and also grab the runner when resting.
I prefer the solid straight gate/wire gate quickdraw combo. the keynose of the nitron biner makes it really easy to clip in and out of bolt hangers. There are also grooves on the nitron gate which makes handling a dream. The hot wire gate is so smooth and easy to clip in the rope. Sometimes it is so smooth that the gate doesn't even make a noise when clipping. The large and roomy size and wide gates on both biners make clipping and holding knots easier. The bright orange finish makes identifying the route quick and just looks really cool.
As far as weight is concerned, I am not comparing these to the extremely lightweight quickdraws like the wildcountry helium and madrock ultralight. It is a lighter carabiner compared to the petzl express draw and other draws with 14mm wide dogbones or nylon dogbones.
Probably the only downside I would have to say about this quickdraw is that Black Diamond does not offer this in an 18mm length version. I have 18 quickdraws and I modified 6 of them and replaced the dogbones with a petzl 17mm runner.
If you are looking for an all around Quickdraw for a very good midrange price and don't want to spend $18+ on each quickdraw then the Black Diamond Hotwire Quickdraw is a very solid choice.
(I bought all my quickdraws on sale for about $13 each)

Comments about Black Diamond HotWire Quickdraw Set:
I really love the BD Hotwire draws for sport climbing. They have a smooth action on both ends and nice, big gates for fast and positive clipping. Since the top biner is a keynose, it's easy to remove these from overhanging routes (although keynose draws are becoming the new standard). Overall, a great draw that has been with me on many fun sends.
