Comments about Marmot Variant Jacket - Men's:
I love the fit of this thing to death, but it's more casual wear than outdoors wear. After using it lightly for not quite a year, it's completely coming apart. The logo is falling off the front, the sleeves are all stretched out, and the fabric is pilling everywhere. Performance wise..eh, it's the same as any other polarstretch jacket. I might get another one, but I certainly wouldn't take it out to the woods.

Comments about Marmot Variant Jacket - Men's:
I bought this jacket instead of a traditional fleece, mostly because I really like the way it looks. It's lightweight & also SUPER soft and cozy to wear... really comfortable.
On sizing, I'm 6'1, 175 lbs, with relatively long arms. The large fits me perfectly.
The down side is I haven't found a great use for it, outside of wearing it around the house or work, or for a walk in mild weather. I live in Seattle where it's always 48 and rainy in the winter, and this jacket is never right.
- I find the insulated front a bit too warm for running
- I wore it as a mid-layer skiing. It worked OKAY, but it's too long and hangs out of the snow skirt in my jacket & the zipper makes it uncomfortable to tuck in. I'm going with my mid-weight merino wool sweater next time.
- As a casual use jacket, wind whips right through the sleeves and back, leaving me feeling cold.
All in all, I still like it for the looks & comfort. But think I might have done better with a soft shell jacket with better wind resistance at this price.

Comments about Marmot Variant Jacket - Men's:
This is great as a mid-layer for cool to colder weather. I use this for everything from around town to hiking and backpacking. Its amazing how well the Variant wicks moisture during backpacking and hiking in cool weather and still retains heat. So far I have had this for 6 months and it seems to be very durable. At 14 oz's it's a must have! Great for 3 season use

Comments about Marmot Variant Jacket - Men's:
After recently purchasing the Marmot Variant Jacket, I decided to test it out on a climbing/hiking trip to New Hampshire's White Mountains. The first day started with a long approach through deep snow to the climb. Temps were in the single digits when we left the car but with just a long sleeve base layer under the Varient Jacket I was warm. The Polartec Power Stretch is surprisingly wind resistence and while working up a sweat breaking trail it wicked beautifully. The jacket is form fitting but didn't restrict movement while climbing. I had to throw a warmer layer on over while belaying but once climbing the Varient and it's Thermal R insulation kept me plenty warm. The next day the Varient performed great on a twenty mile hike, the jacket again wicked perfectly. When the wind picked up above treeline, my shell fit beautifully over the form-fitting but insulated Varient. Marmot's Varient Jacket is such a versatile piece that it will undoubtedly find it's way into my pack on every trip.
