Comments about Metolius Bailout Crash Pad:
Took this crash pad to Joshua Tree for some bouldering at Hall of Horrors. The pad was easy to carry, quick to set up and take down, and did a wonderful job breaking my fall when I didn't send my problem. My group had two of these pads which was plenty of coverage for any traverse we attempted. Highly recommended!

Comments about Metolius Bailout Crash Pad:
This pad gives you a bang for your buck. Have had it for a few weeks now and have landed on it quite a bit. The firmness is nice especially when falling from 10+ feet. Just went buildering at the strip mall close to where I was and got about 13-15 foot up and slipped, I said to myself while falling "this is gonna hurt." Nope, landed right in the middle of the pad and it didn't bottom out and there was no little valley that opened so it did it's job. The ankles were saved from the evil concrete below. The piece of carpet in the middle is awesome to wipe your feet on too. Highly reccomended.

Great pad like the way the middle fold over laps so you don't get the drop out in the middle.

Comments about Metolius Bailout Crash Pad:
i do just love this bouldering pad. I boutght it a few weeks ago and have went out 5 or 6 times and it hasnt let me down. It takes the impact of a fall pretty darn well. The price is not bad either! Props to Metolius!

Comments about Metolius Bailout Crash Pad:
It's awesome for just simple climbing, however, the foam bowls out very fast. It lasts a while, but after it runs out, it becomes a second option to other, longer lasting pads. Other than that the pad is great.

Comments about Metolius Bailout Crash Pad:
I bought this pad about a month ago and have used it outdoors 3 or 4 times now. So far I'm enjoying it! It's not the thickest pad ever and it feels quite firm but when you land on it you definitely appreciate the firmness. I've fallen on this pad from 10ft. or so and admittedly was anticipating a bit of pain when I hit the bottom! To my surprise the pad took the bulk of the force and I got right back up, no harm done.
One thing I also like (and that the photos for this product don't show) is that there is a square piece of carpet-like material in the middle of the pad to wipe your shoes on which is nice.
Otherwise, the pad is easy to carry and the shoulder and waist straps are easily adjustable. Might be a bit soon to discuss how quickly or not quickly the pad wears down, but I was impressed that after a weekend of climbing on and around sharp granite, the pad showed little to no scuffing or wear.
