Rode this brake from Sept. to April and th only problem I had was the adjusting barrel siezed up. But I did manage to get it unstuck.

Comments about Avid BB5 Disc Brake - 160mm:
Came on a 2007 Gary Fisher Piranah(roundagon rotors).Note: Newer models have slotted rotors and newer alignment adjustments.I commute with these as well as urban trail mapping including lower elevation MTB trails.Brake pads on these are small and wore out quickly. At $20/wheel and several times per year it started adding up. Had to replace a rotor last year. They got hot enough, I thought they were glowing after coming down off Mt Falcon one evening. (They may be OK for light weight users or on flatter terrain.)Pad adjustment only affects one side of disc.Switched to larger rotor BB7 with larger pads, adjustments for each pad & better ratings.
