Rated4out of5byDrittesAugefromVersatile but some design flawsI used this jacket on some hikes in Germany and Switzerland. Overall it performed very well and actually provided more warmth than I expected (it's just a shell with mesh lining). I did encounter some rain along the way. It wasn't pouring but was fairly constant at times. While the jacket ended up getting wet I didn't notice any soaking through to the layers beneath. One drawback is that the hood doesn't seem to have the same water protection as the rest of the jacket which left me with a soaked head and neck after a few minutes of rain.

Rated4out of5byOld Codger43fromPracticalReplaced an Omni-Heat thermal jacket that let the wind blow right through. The REI jacket is very light weight and compresses for packing and it is windproof and water resistant. It can be used as a middle layer or outer layer. Lots of pockets.
