Comments about REI Windstill Jacket - Men's:
Replaced an Omni-Heat thermal jacket that let the wind blow right through. The REI jacket is very light weight and compresses for packing and it is windproof and water resistant. It can be used as a middle layer or outer layer. Lots of pockets.

Comments about REI Windstill Jacket - Men's:
Bought for a trip to San Fran. Worked great! looked good with jeans, shorts or casuals slacks. Very lightweight, warm and easy to carry around every day for the variable weather in SF. On and off multi times a day, waded up in a backpak but never wrinkled so when needed it looked good. Would purchase again.

Comments about REI Windstill Jacket - Men's:
I bought this because a windbreaker is a piece of required equipment during the Goruck Challenge, and it was an absolute lifesaver. I wore it for 12 hours straight, over countless miles, doing low crawls, buddy carries, bear crawls, you name it, and it kept me warm, and was comfortable the entire time. It especially came in handy after taking a dunk in the Charles River at 6am at the tail end of Winter in Massachusetts. Threw it back on, and it kept me warm enough to make it to sunrise. After the challenge was over, I just threw it in the wash, and it's good as new. Now it's my favorite jacket. Highly recommended.

Comments about REI Windstill Jacket - Men's:
This mesh liner in this jacket adds a bit to the weight, but also to the warmth. It's not a warm jacket by any means, but that's not a flaw. It's just the right weight for a perfect amount of protection for breezy beach/bluff walks or a day on the water.
It seems to be well made. I could get away with wearing this casually in town, but it also provides good protection and is sturdy for other activities like sailing and hiking.

Comments about REI Windstill Jacket - Men's:
Fantastic jacket that nicely fills the gap between cheap, ultraportable windbreakers that fold into a pouch and the expensive high end versions. Very comfortable, lightweight & stylish. Durable enough for hard wear and attractive enough for everyday use. I enjoy mine most on vacations to handle wind, cool desert nights, or light rain. I used to take a "pouch" windbreaker but was never happy with the cheap appearance. With the Windstill - problem solved!

Comments about REI Windstill Jacket - Men's:
I was looking for a shell to wear while taking the new greyhound on her "quick time" walks. I generally sweat a lot, so I'm always caught between adequate warmth and wind block, and breathability.
I couldn't be happier with this jacket. It's become one of my "hanging by the door" reliables, along with a pile jacket (which works perfectly layered under the Windstill).
The fabric is tough enough and woven tightly enough that it is a top notch windbreaker, perhaps bested only by a Gore-Tex or much more expensive microfiber jacket.
I particularly like the mesh lining. On a cool Seattle spring or fall evening, the jacket provides just enough warmth from retained body heat, while the mesh wicks sweat from light-to-moderate exercise.
The mesh and the rest of the fabric is such that it's surprisingly comfortable to wear a tee-shirt and this jacket and go for a brisk greyhould walk.

Comments about REI Windstill Jacket - Men's:
Seems well-made and would go deep into winter with a fleece. Hood stays on nicely, jacket looks decent enough to wear into a restaurant w/o shame. Cuffs are a little tight.
I bought this in early April and found it too warm to wear much during our DC-area spring weather. Looking forward to trying it again this fall/winter. If you're looking for a light windbreaker this is not it.
