Comments about Cordillera Cascade 800 Down Jacket - Men's - Special Buy:
I am 6'3" and 200lbs. I bought the XL and am very pleased with the fit. Most jackets' sleeves are too short for my arms, but this one fits perfectly. The jacket is extremely warm, but you should always layer in cold weather. After about a month of use there are a few feathers that make their way through the fabric, but I've been pleased to find fewer feathers escape with this jacket than most 800 down jackets. The zippers are way above average and do not pucker or catch the jacket. The hand warmers in the front are just the right height to make it easy to put your hands in. My only complaint would be that the chest size is a little too big for a guy of my size. However, I figure most people who buy an XL jacket are not as thin as I am so I don't hold that against the manufacturer. Overall I'm extremely impressed. You can't find another 800 down jacket for this price!

I like the deal and use this jacket for cold weather, in the casual way. It's nice jacket by good price, lightweight, warm and comfortable. I had Patagonia parka to compare it, the price is much more cheaper, and quality is good too. I cannot find other goose down jacket with 800 fill in this price. I bought two and told my friends and they also bought two. We all like it.

Comments about Cordillera Cascade 800 Down Jacket - Men's - Special Buy:
I just picked up this jacket on special buy, and I'm thrilled. My test: sitting outside at 6am (coldest part of the day) to watch the sunrise the day after thanksgiving. The low for the day was 25. I sat still for four hours, my feet numb, legs cool, hands just trying to keep up. I wasn't moving, not generating any excess body heat, and it kept my core and arms warm and toasty. On days like that I do long for a hood (well worth the extra $).
The fit is great for someone who is long and lean (I'm 6'1", 160lbs, and a medium is perfect). There's a little room in the torso for me to layer, but it isn't cavernous.
There IS some down leakage. The outer material could stand to be more durable. I haven't pinched the zipper yet because I'm careful with it. whenever I see feathers trying to escape I just pinch them back from the inside. This is my first down jacket, and I have little to compare it to, but I think it's pretty great.

I expect use this jacket in a base camp or at cold weather, in the casual way. I think it not appropriate to use at extreme condition. It's a nice jacket by a good price. Lightweight, confortable and much warm. You don't find another down jacket like this, with 800-fill-power, for this price. I bought it with a very special discount.

Comments about Cordillera Cascade 800 Down Jacket - Men's - Special Buy:
Very comfortable, and medium-warm; not a parka, but a great jacket.
EXCEPT: The zipper has eensy-weensy teeth, and won't zip into an outer shell. The zipper also tends to snag and tear the exterior fabric. (I've had mine repaired twice already.)
It also has a rather nasty tendency to leak down.
For occasional, light use, it's great, and looks great. But extreme care is needed to avoid tearing it. This is NOT a bush-whacking, cross-country jacket; it's an about-town jacket.

Comments about Cordillera Cascade 800 Down Jacket - Men's - Special Buy:
I used the jacket during a trip to China in January as an outer garment in areas where the weather was cool (i.e. freezing), and as a layer when I was at the Great Wall where it was quite cold and windy. I found the jacket very comfortable to wear. The overall fit was good (The jacket was a medium size; I'm 5'10", and I weigh 150 lbs.) It was also a good selection for traveling due to its compressibility and easy packing into a suitcase. My one complaint about the jacket are the cuffs; I have fairly large hands and while the cuffs feel comfortable on the wrist, the only way I can get my hands out of the sleeves is to pull the sleeves inside-out over my hands.

I've been wanting a down jacket for a long time, but refused to pay $200. I got a killer deal on this jacket and haven't been disapointed, but I've only worn it 2-3 times. I'm 170 lbs and normally wear a large but I got a medium because I wanted a snug fit. I thought the sleeves were too narrow at first, but I'm starting to think they're the right size. I think I would have been swimming in a large. Down jackets are sweet; they're as warm as everyone told me. I do find myself thinking about snagging it as I walk down the street though, which isn't ideal.

Comments about Cordillera Cascade 800 Down Jacket - Men's - Special Buy:
The jacket fits well and is definitely warm, but I am a bit disappointed in the build quality. When it arrived the branding labels were already peeling off the jacket. I wore it once on a trip to snowy Montreal where it proved its warmth, but after a day of wear feathers were poking through the material and leaking out where my backpack straps were. I am probably going to return this and try the Zeus, same fill and less expensive and it has gotten some great reviews.
