Comments about Black Diamond Titan Lantern:
It looks like it should last a long time, and it is stylish. For as many lumens as it claims, it dosn't really light up all that much. It would be interesting to compair to the lumen output of say an average propane lantern. It is nice that it is quiet, and dosn't get hot, but for the price, it is still hard to say.

Comments about Black Diamond Titan Lantern:
The good: small and well-made.
The bad: heavy; expensive; very difficult to slide the clear casing up and down to vary the amount of light; and the lantern needs to be positioned very high for adequate light emission (if you hold it too low or place it on a picnic bench the emitted light will extend out a very short distance from the lantern).

Comments about Black Diamond Titan Lantern:
This lantern has been my trusted companion for several years. It is the first thing I pull out when the power goes out and my go-to lighting source for camping. Yes this is used by most people for car camping but I always suck it up and carry it with me on multiday backpacking trips. My friends always appreciate it when we set up camp in areas where we can't have a fire. I've dropped it, spilled water on it, and woke up with frost on it and the thing keeps ticking with long battery life to boot! There are a lot of options for lanterns out there and I own others but if I could only have one this would be it!

Comments about Black Diamond Titan Lantern:
While not the equal of large white gas or propane fuel lanterns in light output, it approaches or exceeds the output of my tiny Snowpeak isobutane lanterns. It's a great area light (a great thing in rattlesnake habitat) especially when hung high, and best of all, it's quiet, unlike any vapor-fueled lantern. Its size, weight, & burntime compare very favorably with vapor fuel appliances, and it's safe inside a tent. What's not to like?

Comments about Black Diamond Titan Lantern:
During recent 5 day blackout, best light out of dozen that we own. Lit up entire rooms, light weight, and flexible (hang it or sit it down). The crisp, white light enhanced visibility. Plan on buying many more! Cost justified by superior lighting.

Comments about Black Diamond Titan Lantern:
The Titan is the first practical LED lantern I've run across. It's not nearly as bright as a gas lantern, but of course it doesn't get hot and it won't asphyxiate you inside a tent. Too heavy & bulky for backpacking, it's best used for car camping, picnics, power failures, etc. Besides its high price, its biggest drawback is that it emits light out & down only, so it needs to be hung up for best effect. To that end, it has a nifty split handle that allows it to be hung from a tree branch or a line. Overall, it's a sturdy, compact lantern that's bright enough for a whole campground, if set up properly.

Comments about Black Diamond Titan Lantern:
My friends and I enjoy Jeep camping in the nearby Rockies where a bit of weight isn't as important as when we backpack. Each of us has purchased one of these Black Diamond Titan lanterns. Positioning them around camp really lights up the place, and they burn brightly all night. In the long run these are a bit expensive to use considering the price of D-cells, so invest in rechargeables.

Comments about Black Diamond Titan Lantern:
This light is highly adjustable with the dimming feature and is great for campgrounds where everyone wants to use the smaller lights and headlamps for their tents and scavenging missions. Great for the backyard too as a dank patio light. Probably too big too take backpacking unless you are sharing the cumulative load with your friend or significant other, sleeping in the same tent, and both have packs.

Comments about Black Diamond Titan Lantern:
This is a great lantern with only one minor issue. First, the good points... It's quite bright, without having the retina searing qualities of propane or gas lights. Although you might not want to do color-matching of paint swatches with it, it's bright enough to do anything around camp with it. Battery longevity is very good. I've had mine for over a year with the same batteries, and they're still going. I've also dropped it once on the garage floor and it didn't break. It's collapsable when not in use. The only issue is that it throws light downward (not to the sides so much) and isn't great as a table light. If you use it, hang it on a branch or high point. I ended up buying a lantern stand to hang it on. On a 7 foot stand it will illuminate a circle diameter of fifty feet or more. The interlocking 2 half-hook system allows you to hang it easily on branches without having to thread the hook.
