Good or bad weather the dog has to be walked. This dog keeps the main parts of my dog dry & clean. It seems to be comfortable to her. Very easy to put on. I washed it today on hand wash setting. And hung in the laundry room to dry. So far so good!

We used these all Winter. I run 40+ miles a week. I take our two boxers out often. If you are into sports and know how underlayment clothing fits, you will understand how these fit. They are made to fit over them tight. They have no problem at all running in it or moving around in them. If they did not like it, I would know. The first time I put them on them they stood kind of funny until they realized they can move in it. The top beads ran and snow off of them, while there is a lining inside. The wear them when it is under 25-28 degrees outside. Running in them they are fine, if it is really cold weather, it may not be enough if they are not active.

I've got a long, skinny boy dog (Malamute/Miniature poodle mix -- yeah, really). He's got a long body, skinny legs and a deep, narrow chest. This jacket was made to fit him. The elastic on the sleeves is loose enough not to cause any irritation or restriction, but tight enough to keep snow from getting inside. The jacket is long enough to protect the top of his body from getting rained on, but the bottom part of the jacket is cut so that it doesn't interfere with his ability to urinate. He was right on the line between being a small or a medium, but the small was way, way too small. I could barely get it zipped and my dog did not look comfortable. A medium fits like a glove.

The jacket itself is at least water resistant. I used it while hiking in the snow and for brief walks during the rain. Water beaded up and rolled off the top of it. Even after hours in the snow, the underside (which is a different, stretchy material) remained dry. It seems like both sides have been given a waterproofing treatment. It hasn't worn off yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if I have to reapply some kind of spray on waterproofing in the future. No big.

I also like that this jacket didn't cause my dog to overheat. He's kind of a baby with the cold, but he heats up fast when he's running -- and he can run forever. He didn't seem to get too hot while running, which means the jacket is good at not retaining TOO much heat.

On the other hand, it kept my dog warm and dry while he was walking and sitting outside of shops for hours in 20-30 degree (F) weather. I might want a warmer jacket like the Hurtta for more extreme conditions, but this jacket is perfect for walking and hiking in the rain and snow.

I also like that it fits easily underneath a harness. I haven't tried it with his his backpack, but I'll update when I do.

The reason its not 5 stars: it's very, very expensive for what it is.

This jacket is great for everyday wear. It has a nice form fit to it without being to constricting on my 1 year old boxer. It sheds rain and light snow without weight him down and he loves when it comes out, cause he knows he is about to get to play outside.
However, it does attract dog hair like a magnet, especially the fleece lining. Thankfully, it washes easily

It's a soft shell for a the pooch! This thing is great. It breathes, it's basically waterproof and it keeps the snow from building up in his fur.
My only concern is the material that runs underneath and on the front legs is a bit thin and may tear over time. Not enough of a concern to pass on this!
The dog loves it and he really has no irritation from it even after wearing it on an all day hike. I never thought of a dog with long fur having issues with cold and snow, but he seems much happier on our skinning trips now.

I went to the REI in College Park today to buy the Cloud Chaser. Chief's girth is 36" so I bought the size XL. It fits very good and is not restrictive. Chief weighs 101 lbs but the XL is a good fit. I was worried, from other reviews that it might cover his "peepee" but it does not on Chief, thankfully. This will replace his K9 jacket which was small for him and I like the fact that this Cloud Chaser covers his entire mid section and underneath. Chief loves sniffing everything and exploring outside, especially when its rainy or wet, so this will help to keep him dry and warm, for the most part.

My dog doesn't have a ton of hair on her underbelly, so she shivers in moderately cold weather (60-70 degrees Fahrenheit). She never shivers while wearing the jacket, and when I take it off of her, her body is very warm. I contemplated getting the fleece, but I'm happy with this choice because of the water-resistant top layer. She didn't like the jacket at first, because, as others complain, it does feel restrictive. However, she got used to it pretty quickly after throwing a ball around to get her running in it.

Awesome coat overall. I have a very active Vizsla who loves this coat and doesn't seem to be hindered in any way when wearing it. My only complaint is it's a bit baggy in the rear, this coat would probably better fit a lab type dog.
