The SteriPEN Adventurer Opti water purifier with Solar Charging case is equipped with a new optical water sensor for reliable performance so you can enjoy purified water on the go.

  • Solar charging clamshell case pulls double duty, recharging the included double-cell rechargeable CR123 lithium battery and providing handy, secure storage for the purifier
  • Simply clip the charging case onto a backpack or set it on the ground and aim it towards the sun to recharge the double-cell battery; empty charging case weighs 6.8 oz.
  • Solar panel recharges 1 double-cell battery in 2 - 5 days, depending on solar conditions; battery can be recharged via the included plug-in power adapter in 4 - 6 hrs.
  • SteriPEN Opti features an optical water sensor that detects whether or not the device is in water and only allows the UV lamp to activate when the SteriPEN is immersed
  • After pressing the button to activate the SteriPEN, immerse the lamp and optical sensor; the UV lamp will then activate and emit UV light and visible blue light
  • Optical sensor doubles as a backup LED flashlight that can be handy when walking to the stream to get water; operate flashlight with SteriPEN cap in place to protect the lamp
  • Adventurer Opti requires no pumping, chemicals, test strips, extended timekeeping or filters; leaves no aftertaste, will not clog and does not require lubrication
  • Innovative SteriPEN system uses UV light rays instead of chemicals to purify water for drinking
  • Ultraviolet (UV-C) light rays safely sterilize clear water by destroying 99.99% of protozoa (including Giardia and Cryptosporidia ), bacteria and even viruses
  • Long used by municipal water districts and bottling companies, low-level UV-C light treats water safely; plus, unit's light will not damage eyes or skin when used properly
  • SteriPEN protects you from risks that cause botulism, cholera, dysentery and typhoid, just to name a few
  • SteriPEN Adventurer Opti is simple to use: just press a button and gently agitate the water with a quick stir
  • Purifies 16 fl. oz. of water (cold or warm) in less than 1 min. or 32 fl. oz. in a 1.5 min.; fully charged battery provides up to sixty 16 fl. oz. treatments
  • Small size fits most containers—use it in cups, mugs, water bottles and canteens; carries easily in a shirt pocket
  • SteriPEN Adventurer Opti turns itself off once ultraviolet treatment is complete; light source can be used up to 8,000 times!
  • Watertight seals keep water away from the electronics; rubberized coating ensures secure handling in wet conditions
  • Low-power indicator lets you know when batteries need recharging; screw-off cap permits easy battery access
  • Use only on clear water, as cloudy, sediment-laden water hinders effectiveness; FitsAll prefilter (sold separately) clears particulates and debris from water
  • Opti can also be powered via 2 single-cell disposable CR123 lithium batteries (sold separately); never attempt to recharge disposable batteries in the solar case
  • Includes SteriPEN Adventurer Opti water purifier, solar charging case, 1 double-cell CR123 rechargeable lithium battery, AC adapter, neoprene carrying case and user manual

Comments about SteriPEN Adventurer Opti Water Purifier with Solar Charging Case:

I have used a SteriPEN for three backpacking trips in the Canadian Rockies and found it to be quick and easy to use. My mistake was buying the SteriPEN with the solar charger. On the first trip out with it, the negative terminal broke off rendering it useless. I was stuck carrying useless extra weight on a two week trip. Buy the SteriPEN and pack extra batteries. Leave the solar charger for another sucker. And yes, if you have murky water you will need a filter as well.

Comments about SteriPEN Adventurer Opti Water Purifier with Solar Charging Case:

I used this camping and with a full charge I was only able to get maybe 10 uses before I need to charge it, then the solar charger wouldn't charge it. Extra batteries work great. The Pen is easy to use and worked great to make the water safe but noticed I needed a pre filter to have clear water and make water taste good. I could see this being great for short trips and used for emergencies, but make sure you have another backup filter with you.
Forget about the solar charger though...

Comments about SteriPEN Adventurer Opti Water Purifier with Solar Charging Case:

The Pen Works great with regular batteries but using the solar function with recharageables is a complete fail. I've tried every way to charge these batteries using the Solar Function with BAD results.1 day in the sun. . . No Charge. 2 Days in the Sun and no Charge. 3 Days in the sun and it still doesn't work. Finally I called SteriPen and they aren't very helpful either. Apparently they know about the problem and say it's due to a bad batch of batteries. With this info I go out and buy another brand of rechargeable batteries to see if they will work. COMPLETE FAIL. STERIPEN - FIX YOUR PROBLEM AND GET BETTER ENGINEERS FOR YOUR SOLAR CHARGER.
