This season's Marmot PreCip rain jacket has an improved PreCip® Dry Touch waterproof, breathable coating. It's now more waterproof, more breathable and more comfortable to wear!
- All-season jacket is not only lightweight and compressible, but renowned for its water shedding, breathable performance and reliable comfort
- PreCip still features a 2.5-layer waterproof, breathable polyurethane coating; ceramic particles add durability, waterproof reliability, and improved Dry Touch comfort

I needed a good rain shell for backpacking and didn't have a huge budget. I decided on the Pre Cip and was not disappointed. On a snow backpacking trip it kept me very dry and it breathed well. I've also worn in twice in the rain and had no issues with leaks or over heating. This is my first 2.5 layer shell and I'm impressed for the price point. I'm excited to see how it lasts over time.

This is my second Marmot rain shell. My first, a slightly different model, worked well for about 5 years. It kept me dry. My new shell works just as well. It keeps me dry in rainy, squally weather. It is easy to layer under. Very good product.

I already own a Precip purchased years ago. The old one is fine and the fit is perfect. Purchased the same size again, but very tight around biceps and chest. I am not a weight-lifter but have a larger-than average chest and average biceps. The problem is when I put this shell over my Denali Jacket (300-weight fleece). The sleeves bunch up and have to be manually pulled through and the jacket is tight in the chest. Even without the fleece, the lack of space up top is a serious concern. It seems that Marmot has redesigned the cut for small-chested, skinny-armed men.

I've had Precip jackets for several seasons now, and really like the performance. This jacket is as water proof as any other Gore-tex style jacket that I've owned.
Some previous reviewers have complained that this jacket is not windproof, but I've not found that to be the case. In fact when paired with a fleece or sweater it acts as a very good wind layer.
The underarm vents are perfect for those treks where you have a combination of warm, rainy weather and need the ventilation.

Using as final/outside layer for running. Always have pit vents open. So far, the jacket durability has been good - hoping the pockets hold up. I always wear a hydration back pack. Good colors to keep the hunters aware.
