Comments about Merrell Whiteout 8 Waterproof Winter Boots - Women's:
I purchased these boots specifically for snowshoeing. They were very easy to break in. They kept my feet warm and dry. The fit is very true to size. My favorite feature is the notch on the back that helps keep the back strap on the snowshoe from sliding down. They felt heavier in my hand than other boots but I didn't feel they were too heavy on my feet. I purchased them on sale and thought they were a great value.

Comments about Merrell Whiteout 8 Waterproof Winter Boots - Women's:
These boot were way too small, I think! Ordered 1/2 size larger than my usual during spring sale. When I tried them on sitting in house were OK. But in practice I couldn't lace them tight enough to keep my foot from sliding forward just enough to cramp my toes. Very unpleasant.

great boot.
my wife complains that the upper part of the boot is too tight. I told her to loosen the shoestrings and that seemed to help

Comments about Merrell Whiteout 8 Waterproof Winter Boots - Women's:
I was looking for a winter boot to snowshoe with, as I had been using Doc Martens for the last two years (yikes!). I ordered these and love them profusely!! At first, the front seemed to bang my shin, but once I loosened them up that stopped. They were a comfortable and light fit from the beginning and my thick socks fit great in them (I ordered a 1/2 size up). They keep my feet warm (coldest I was in was 10F for about 3H - it hasn't been very cold here this winter) and they fit amazingly in my snowshoes! I have hiked w/out the snowshoes and it barely feels like there is anything there beyond my summer hiking boot. They also didn't leak when I broke through ice into muck a few times. When these boots die, I will want another pair!

LOVE THESE. I wear a size 11, not an easy size to find in stores; so I shop online. Wore these camping in the snow, my feet stayed cozy warm the whole time. Did a fair amount of hiking in the snow/mud/slush, and feet never got sore- and they always do in other shoes- Merrell has a great arch system to keep feet in proper alignment. I like the heel tab, easy to remove boots. A bit bulky, but all boots are.
I wish I could wear these hiking in the summer.

So far we haven't had our usual snow and freezing conditions but I did just finally try these out on frozen slush covered with snow. Good stability and traction. Warm enough for 20 degrees.
I only gave a 4star rating because I haven't been able to test them in "real" snow and sub-zero temps yet. But I think they will do just great.

Comments about Merrell Whiteout 8 Waterproof Winter Boots - Women's:
Great boots! Very comfortable and easy to wear, not at all "clunky" as other snow or cold weather boots can be. I haven't used them for hiking yet (our son is too young for hiking at cold temperatures), but I can tell they would be great for long distances.
I got them in the grey, and I think the color is great, but I can see why someone expecting bright white would be disappointed (though I thought the picture looked pretty much exactly like what I got). I actually prefer the grey to white... I don't care for white boots.
The only thing I would change... make them a bit taller. I wind up in deep drifts where I live. However, gaiters will fix that easily.

Comments about Merrell Whiteout 8 Waterproof Winter Boots - Women's:
I just recently moved from Chicago to the mountains of Colorado and needed some "real" winter boots. It's Dec 1st and we have already had 3 snowfalls over 12"! I have a weak left ankle, and these boots provide excellent support! They keep my feet toasty warm and are completely waterproof. They are still very new, so a little bit uncomfortable, but I imagine they will get better as I break them in. They are a great quality, good-looking boot.

Comments about Merrell Whiteout 8 Waterproof Winter Boots - Women's:
Great shoe but Merrell has their sizing totally wrong. Normally I wear 8.5 but to have some more room to wiggle I ordered 9 which was too small so I exchanged to 9.5. It was better but still to thight so I decided to go with size 10. It's a great light winter shoe and I only keep exchange it because I like design and i want my feet to stay worm but Merrell should get their sizing fixed because going 1.5 size over my regular size is crazy.

Comments about Merrell Whiteout 8 Waterproof Winter Boots - Women's:
I bought these boots on January 5th and have already done 3 weekends of hikes. The first hike was the Saturday after purchasing them, sorry I broke them in on a snowy 8 mile trek in the woods with a local AMC group. Right out of the box they felt great on my feet, warm, my feet never got cold or wet. Traction alone on them is not the best but in the winter snow I am mostly wearing snowshoes or Micro-Spikes with them. They have a weekend in the Whites this weekend for a couple days of hiking, they haven't let me done yet.
On a side note, I like the looks of them a lot,so they are great for everyday wear running to the store or my 1 mile trek to my office in the morning.
