Comments about crankbrothers Egg Beater 1 Pedals:
These are my second set of clipless pedals. The first was a set of Wellgo SPD clones that were garbage. The Eggbeaters blow those Wellgos outta the water. Easy to use, easy to get into and out of. I'm thinking a set of Candys on my Road bike so I can wear the same shoes.

First set of Clip-ins I have ever used. Could not be happier with them. Super easy to get in and out of. Would highly recommend these to anyone.

Comments about crankbrothers Egg Beater 1 Pedals:
I bought these last May when I started getting really into mountain biking. They have been pretty great! Exceptionally easy to get in and out of, maybe too easy to get out of. They shed mud like nothing else, and the simplicity is great and easy to clean. Over the past 9 months of owning them however, one of the bushings has broken. I notice this only when rotating the pedal manually with my hand, when biking it isn't noticeable, but with my hand it doesn't rotate smoothly. The other pedal also seems to have bent maybe 2mm. Considering what I've taken these $49 XC pedals down though, I can't believe they've held up as well as they have. Banging into boulders at high speed, slamming down rock gardens, even taking them down a slopestyle corse at a bike park, they have held up surprisingly well. I was using them on a 29er hard tail but recently bought a 26" FS all mountain bike and installed them on it. While definitely not ideal, I think I'm going to ride them until they completely die. Oh, and my left cleat has finally worn enough to warrant getting a new set, it still works, but there is a lot of play and if I stand up and really attack it can sometimes just pull out.

Comments about crankbrothers Egg Beater 1 Pedals:
One of the best pedals I have ever used. They replaced a pair of Shimano 540 spds that failed after 500 miles. These pedals are amazing, for one they have more float, and second have far more adjustability. For the price you might think how great can this pedal be, but I put them through their paces on my CX/touring bike and a 29'er, and I will never use anything but an eggbeater again. I am not the lightest rider either at 220+lbs but these pedals dont care, entry and release are super easy and feel even more natural than a spd pedal.
Btw, these pedals for meant for mountain/cx use, they have nice open frames for ease of use in muddy, dusty or otherwise nasty conditions. If you seek a clipless pedal that can be used with regular shoes too, look at one of the candy's instead. They work just as well but have the plastic outer shell for non-cycling shoes use as well.

Comments about crankbrothers Egg Beater 1 Pedals:
Solid! I tend to push the envelope alot and therefore, I wreck alot, which puts alot of stress on pedals, I don't have to worry about that with these. Easy entry and exit, and very, very smooth operations. Was a bit disappointed at how easily they get surface rust, I was out of the country for four months and the bike was stored in the apartment completely dry and the shafts accumulated rust, but I cleaned them up and it has not affected performance, just appearances a bit
