  • Rich, full-grain leather uppers feature protective rubber toe bumpers
  • Waterproof membranes supply protection from the elements and disperse moisture quickly
  • 200g PrimaLoft® polyester fiber insulation maximizes warmth; boots are comfort rated to -40°F
  • Polyester fleece linings feature AEGIS Microbe Shield® antibacterial treatment to deter odor development
  • Insoles have reflective silver film sandwiched between insulating polyester layers to prevent conductive heat loss to the ground

I think the boots are great! The one draw back is the difficulty of putting them on. Sometimes I wear an ankle brace and I can't put them on when I am wearing it.
However, I did wear them Steelhead fishing, 37 degrees and raining for 8 hours and my feet were dry and warm. Much better than my hands.

I live in a wet environment and also work in a coolish shop on concrete all day which is why I need a warm waterproof boot. Merrell has has always been a good fit for my feet but recently had to return my waterproof Isotherm Zips after having continuous wet feet. So I exchanged them (thanks REI) for the Merrell Bergenz waterproof boot. After two weeks of breaking them in I started noticing wet feet after hiking through wet grass and shallow puddles. I now have decided to go to another brand of shoe.

I like Merrell products and have several Hiking shoes. I found this a little difficult to pull on. It would be nice if someone actually made a rear finger loop large enough to get a full finger through. I found these boots to be too narrow in the mid foot. I don't have a particularly wide foot, but I've also never been able to wear any North Face shoes/boots as they run too narrow. I've never worn a "Wide" size in any brand. I felt the heel was a little loose as well and thus moving to wide size would only make that worse.

The boot itself seems well constructed and I was surprised at how light they were. I wore them around the house for a couple of days to see if they would stretch but alas I was afraid they would never become comfortable. They were very warm in the house. The sole seemed comfortable/cushioned.

I would recommend these to someone whom they fit were comfortable on. I returned mine.

    I've mainly been using the Bergenz boots for walking the dog in open fields and hilly, wooded terrain. I wanted something waterproof but warmer and more secure than my usual rubber barn boots. I'm very happy with their performance and easy on/off, and the mud washes right off. They even look good enough for work. Thumbs up.
