We bought this for our 9 year old daughter to take along when we went on an overseas mission trip. It was the perfect size for her to manage all on her own in the airport, in the car, in the train, etc. She could easily put it up on the conveyor belt at airport security; it nicely stashed in the overhead airline bin; and the detachable backpack was great for her needs during the travel time. We used it for 2 week trip and it was adequate for her. We liked the accompanying stash kit too for cards game, electronics, etc. She will use it again this year but probably best for 3-9 year olds; we'll move her up to the larger Wheely beast soon. We used the Eagle Creek Pack-It Cubes and they worked great for our rolling backpacks.

I bought one of these for my daughter, and one in the blue color for my son, for a recent trip to England. We travelled pretty extensively whilst there, and this bag met all my expectations. It was great quality and extremely versatile. The little front backpack was great for the plane. I put the main bag in the overhead compartment, and packed fun things for them to do during the flight in the little backpack. Whilst we were in England we went away a couple of times and managed to easily fit 4-5 days worth of clothes in the suitcase. My kids are young (7 and 5) but handled these suitcases very well on their own. They are much lighter than most carry-on suitcases so are ideal for kids. If you are looking for a kid size carry-on, you should definitely consider this one. It really is wonderful. My only concern was with the durability of the handle that extends, but I asked about it, and they told me that it has a guarantee, so if anything happens to it I can count on a replacement. Great customer service! Thanks REI!

I have been searching far and wide for a functional, good looking and lightweight carry-on. I travel a lot for business so I know what works for me and what doesn't, but I really purchased this for my personal travel. The zippers and compartments are well placed and easily accessible. The outside compartment that holds the back pack can easily and conveniently hold newspapers, magazines and a water bottle as I make my way through the airport.

I am 5'4" and the size is perfect. And it looks good!

Purchased this as a proper carry-on for my 5 year old daughter. This replaces a cheaply made Target bag that had a tendency of tipping over and could be hard to handle. I love the day pack that attaches to the front that will be filled with her entertainment items for a flight or car trip. The bag appears to be well made and the color is very vivid so it's easy to spot. The size is perfect to contain a good portion of her clothes for a 7-10 day trip. We recently went to Disney World and was a little frustrated with our current bags and have since upgraded all of my luggage. The larger bags are fairly worthless today due to the checked fees and they are very easy to get over the 50lbs. I figure most 7-10 day trips for our family of 3 will be 3 carry-ons and one medium checked bag. I also purchased a couple of the Eagle Creek 18 inch pack-it folders as well as some packing cubes to further the space in each piece of luggage . The handle was a little stiff for her to open at first but she will figure it out. Looking forward to many years of travel with this bag.

This is advertised as a child's product. I am a 72 year old frequent traveler and find this case that perfect extra carry on case. It holds extra clothes incase checked luggage does not arrive on time - easy for me to put in overhead - detachable backpack slides in the under seat storage for easy access .

This suitcase was perfect for me at 5 ft. 5 in. The case handle height and size of the backpack were the best fitting of any comparable "adult" product. Even though this product is described as a "kids" rolling bag, I would highly recommend that women, especially older women and petite women, try the fit and weight. The case and daypack are easy to spot among the sea of black suitcases in most airports. I found the front daypack easy to remove and stow under the seat during flight. The size and shape of the case, even when fully packed, make it still quite easy to lift and fit into the overhead bins on various size aircraft, including small commuter aircraft. The case and daypack were roomy enough for clothes and shoes for a week trip to Europe this summer.
