Yes, this snags very easily but it is such a versatile top. It really adds a lot of warmth as a ski or hiking layer yet is so lightweight that is easily stuffs in a pocket if you get warm. It is one of my favorite layering pieces.

I originally purchased a set for hiking in Scotland. I needed something light yet warm. I fell in love with the feel/style of this product. They hand wash/ dry fast. The long sleeves run long. First disappointment was snags then tears in the fabric. As this is a very expensive product, it is costly to repurchase this product after only 3-4 wears- especially the pants. Just noticed today that they have jumped another $11/ pair of pants.

I love this top--I've had 3 of them and wear them almost every day in the winter under my work clothes as well as outdoors. Contrary to other commenters, I've never had a shrinkage problem with the tops or bottoms--I wash them in the washing machine in cold water and hang to dry. They wash up beautifully and stay very soft. I like that the sleeves don't have cuffs, because I'm one of those people that likes to push up their long sleeves to their elbows--cuffs are usually too tight to do that. I have not had a problem with snagging worse than with any other silk underwear. I always watch for these on sale so I can get more!

I use the silk long underwear for everyday use living in Northern Denmark. I was very happy with the silk comfort but noticed the torso kept shrinking even when hand washing and using cold. I am disappointed because I prefer wearing the silk long underwear daily but the quality is lacking.

My husband also has a long sleeve and it snags very easily.

Like the others, I am a bit disappointed in this top. The sleeves have remained true to length, if even a bit long, however it has shrunk in length. This is rather frustrating since who wants a gap between their pants and sweater in cold weather? It does not stay tucked in. I dried it the first time, which the label directed. However, I now line dry them to preserve the length. It is a nice weight for under tops, and I like the V neck.

I live in the Sierra and work outdoors in all weather. I get cold easily but don't like bulky layers, so I use silk thermals as my base layer. I've been buying them from REI for years. I hated the last one because the sleeves hung loosely and it snagged way too easily (a slightly rough fingernail will do it). When I ordered this one, I thought it was a different style and was very disappointed that it's the same as my last one. But I was desperate, so I wore it and in just one day it's already got two snags on the front. The earlier silk tops REI carried are much better quality. I still have an old one from the 1990s. It had cuffs instead of loose, floppy sleeves like this one, and although it's a bit shrunken from accidentally putting it in the dryer, it's still in good shape. There isn't a snag on it! Alas, I can't say anything good about this one except that I like the V-neck design. Save your money.

I have a size medium that my husband bought for me as a gift, and at first it fit pretty well. But as time goes on, washing only in cold water, the torso has gotten shorter and shorter, while the sleeves stay long. If you want something short that doesn't tuck into your pants and creates less bulk around the waist, then this is your item.

Other than the sizing, it's been durable, feels wonderful on the skin, and the stripey look is great for wearing under short sleeve shirts (looks like a blouse, not long underwear).
