Comments about Patagonia Capilene 3 Crew Top - Men's:
I love my older Patagonia Cap3 layers, and I was hoping that the newer versions were going to be just as good. The sizing/fit is MUCH larger than previous years. Where I a Medium fit perfect, its now a Small that fits. The new weave of the fabric also seems cheaper. Just make sure to order a size down if you are looking to replace your older cap layers.

Comments about Patagonia Capilene 3 Crew Top - Men's:
As long as you NEVER create ANY odor in these shirts, you'll be OK.I was camping and forgot deodorant. Big mistake with these Capilene garments. No mater how many times you wash them, the BO smell will make itself a part of your day as soon as the shirt gets warm again. They will smell as long as you own the shirt. And, no, I've never been referred to as a stinky guy, ever...... as long as I wear deodorant.Unfortunately, I bought quite a few of the Capilene shirts and didn't realize that retaining odor was THIS big of an issue until about year later. I now have [$] of Capilene shirts that are ruined. What a waste.I love all my other Patagonia products, but Capilene is awful. Actually, virtually worthless to me.

Comments about Patagonia Capilene 3 Crew Top - Men's:
The 2009 Capilene 3 fit way better, insulated much better and does not pill like the 2010 Capilene 3. The 2010 version is loose around the wrist, too long and the material is thin, pills easily, and is not suitable for use below 30 degrees. It's ok, but I hope Patagonia changes the material the fit next year.

Comments about Patagonia Capilene 3 Crew Top - Men's:
I got two of these when they went on sale of few years back and fell in love with them. im 6'1" and 170lbs. and i fit perfectly into the medium, it's almost like it was tailored to my body. i wear them all the time like a sweatshirt and they are so stylish that they can even be worn out on the town. i also use them as a serious base layer when it starts to get cold (i work on an ice breaking tugboat) and they work great. they feel great against your skin, don't seem to retain stink, dry fast, and keep you warm. my only complaint is that i usually just throw all my clothes in the same load of laundry, but you can't do that with these because they will gather all the lint from your lighter colored clothing. i have to turn them inside out and wash them with like colored clothing, which is what you are supposed to do anyways, but is not how i used to operate. besides this small paradigm shift i had to go through they are great shirts. i just bought two more (once again on sale) and just smile evertime i put one on.

Comments about Patagonia Capilene 3 Crew Top - Men's:
This is the first performance baselayer I have tried. I'm 5'9 with a stocky build and if a long sleeved shirt fits me in the chest and shoulders the arms are usually too long.
I wear a large in this. The arms are shorter than the comparable REI brand shirt and fits my arms just fine. The shirt is just snug enough to promote moisture transfer. I usually wear an XL t-shirt so I would say these run a bit larger than advertised.
I've worn this on mountain hikes and it's enough insulation by itself in the morning with temps down to the upper 40s. When I start to sweat it keeps me comfortable even in direct sun.
My only complaint is that the fabric has started to pill (slightly) under my hydration pack straps after just a few wears. I expect this would be true of all polyester baselayers.
