Comments about SmartWool Headliner Hat:
As a bald man, I need to protect my head from the elements. I have a capelene headliner for use in the summer. I have used this when cycling in the cold and snowshoeing. It keeps the head warm and fits well under helmet or cap. It is soft and comfortable, and meets the need.

Comments about SmartWool Headliner Hat:
This is a great hat to wear underneath my bike helmet. It fits perfectly around my head. It gives me the right amount of warmth, yet is breathable. It's very comfortable and not bad looking when I'm wearing it without the helmet.

Comments about SmartWool Headliner Hat:
This cap is designed to be worn under a bicycle helmet. If you're a commuter bicyclist, it will probably work fine. The cap is very thin, but wool is warmer than your typical poly cycling cap. However, if you have one of those racer-style bicycle helmets with lots of big vents and you ride at racer-style speeds (over 20mph), then the wind will cut right through this thin cap and chill your head. Only recommended for slower riders or people with poorly ventilated helmets.

Comments about SmartWool Headliner Hat:
I have a smallish head 7-7.25 and the hat is very loose, I can pull it down to my nose. I was hoping for more like a skull cap feel, nice snug fit. It does not work for me. I agree with the other reviewer that it is long enough to cover ears, which I like, but I don't like the feeling of wearing a target bag on my head.

Comments about SmartWool Headliner Hat:
I have worn many kinds of skull caps/headliners and hats under my various helmets, year round bicycle commuting, skiing and snowboarding. The smartwool headliner is simply the best. I have worn other headliners of fleece and poly/spandex. The smartwool headliner wicks as well as any, is not bulky like fleece but insulates like a much thicker fleece.
This headliner is sized so it comfortably fits over my ears and doesn't pull up and expose my ear lobes. When it is really cold I layer it with a smartwool balaclava, my helmet still fits well and I can ride with a comfortable head in temperatures down to zero. I start wearing it riding when the temperature gets to about 50 and my head never over heats and my ears are comfy.
