The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Delta Kayaks Delta 10 Kayak:
Took it out for testing at a calm lake. A slight breeze was blowing. Asked my husband to come along so I could gauge speed relative to my longer kayak. It is very light and easy to carry. It tracks well and is maneuverable in flat, flat water. With even a slight breeze, it requires more effort than a 10 foot Dagger with skeg. The noise factor was mentioned in a lot of reviews I read, but I didn't realize that it even applies when wind-caused ripples hit the bow. The cup holder and the clear plastic view of the lake floor is gimmicky and the cup holder does get in the way if you use it. Primary stability good; but may be hard to get back in if one capsized -- didn't test this, just a conjecture. Will be returning and thankful for REI return policy. Wish it had been a bit easier to handle -- it's a great weight for someone short. A bit pricey for a child's kayak, but I wouldn't recommend it as an entry kayak for adults.

Comments about Delta Kayaks Delta 10 Kayak:
We have two of these, paid extra to special order one in yellow to avoid confusion. Spent 3 days last weekend at Hilton Head, paddling lagoons, tidal rivers, intracoastal waterway, following dolphins, and they were great for that. The catamaran-shaped hull does make for noisiness up front in light chop, my only complaint. These more than adequately replace a tandem kayak with rudder that got too heavy as we got older. And which had no real dry storage, which we didn't realize was a problem until we got swamped once by the wake from a large yacht. Since everything behind the seat is dry storage on the Delta 10, and it has that neat storage pod in front, we don't expect a repeat. And, it is extremely stable - what a joy to get in and out of! And the 3/4 inch holes at front an back ends made them easy to secure in my pickup bed with sturdy bicycle cable locks.

Comments about Delta Kayaks Delta 10 Kayak:
LIKE: The kayak is light and short enough that one person can easily load/unload it from the car, and carry it around with one arm. At 5'8", I don't have any problem hoisting it over my head and walk it up 3 flights of stairs to my apartment. It is stiff, track well, maneuverable, responsive, extremely stable, ample storage, and can easily glide through shallow waters. The front storage pod is also a neat feature. I can sit on top of the hull and paddle with ease. And, with care, even stand up.
DISLIKE: The mold-in seat is a stiff, short straight back, and no lumbar support. After the first hour, my back would ache. The built-in cup holder is positioned at the crotch so you can't slouch back to a relaxing position without having your tail bone crushed. This kayak is too bouncy in choppy water. Due to design, the front of the hull is flat. Choppy water would slap against this flat hull and is very annoying. DELTA should change the front hull design to a traditional V shape.
NEUTRAL: Flat waters in my area are too murky so I can't give the port view a fair review. Personally, I think it's too small to be of any real value.
Overall, I like this kayak. I had to return it because the dislikes are too annoying to ignore. It is an excellent kayak for those that wish to use it for a short day trip on flat waters and calm days -- and I do stress FLAT. This kayak is great for kids and beginners for its remarkable primary and secondary stability. For experienced adults, I don't recommend it.
Service and delivery comments:
Shipping for any large and bulky items has always sucked with ALL shipping companies. The first kayak ordered came in damaged with a big hole in the hull. The second kayak came in with deep scratch marks on the bottom of the hull, and a few scratches here and there -- but tolerable. It seems like the shipper had dragged the package across the floor and tore the packaging materials all the way to the kayak. REI personnel are very professional and wonderful in expediting the re-order to replace the damaged kayak. Customer service is always A+ from all my experiences.
