Comments about Saris Solo Bike Rack:
I have a PT Cruiser with a rear spoiler. I was worried the rack wouldn't fit my car, but once I realized I need to put the hooks on the side and then just slide them to the middle, it was easy to install. My biggest problem is removing the rack from the car. It took me longer to remove the rack than it did to install it. I had to stand on the bumper and really fight to get the hooks out. I have since reinstalled the rack and have decided to leave it on the car and just hope noone steals it because I don't want to ruin the seal around the door frame. My only other issue is that I have a female bike so I ended up having to also purchase another item to attach to my bike so that it sits straight on the bike rack. I was unaware of this until I have drove across town to a bike shop with my bike hanging lop-sided on the rack. The bike remained secured, but it would have been nice to know I needed to buy the bar too. Great, sturdy, bargain-priced rack!

Comments about Saris Solo Bike Rack:
I use this for a one bike going to shorter distances. I like that it fits perfect on hatchback and easy to instal.
Only thing not good is doesn't look very stable on freeways. I don't feel safe so try to avaoid freeways.

Comments about Saris Solo Bike Rack:
Great rack that fit on my Mazda3 hatchback perfectly. I have a very light road bike so I don't know if it would fair as well with a mountain bike. I drove it clear across country, from Seattle to Alabama and never had a single problem. When the roads got very windy I had to stop every few hours to retighten the straps but I think that was more my worry then an actual problem, they didn't loosen much. If it can handle that drive it can handle anything!
I gave it 5 stars not b/c it's the best out there but for the price it easily goes way above expectations

If I need to read directions to use a product, I need help. I set it up on my car in less than a minute the first time. It held my bike very well on the freeway and some pretty rough roads.

Comments about Saris Solo Bike Rack:
so quick and easy to install. i just keep it stored in the back of my car it hardly takes up any room. i wish it came in different colors like the saris bones does. the 4 straps hold the rack tight to your car. first trip i cruised at 70mph on the freeway then downtown seattle on the bumpy streets and it held solid.

Comments about Saris Solo Bike Rack:
Thought this would be perfect for carrying my single commuter bike around. Might work well for someone else, with a small or very lightweight, completely balanced, CLOSED frame bike (and no spoiler on the car).
Given the shape of the arms, I found it impossible to even position my open frame bike anywhere I might have been able to fasten it in place. It also appeared that I would need two hands to fasten it--while still holding it in place myself, as there was no way to rest the bike on the arms so as to free both hands for fastening the bike in place.
Instructions state the rack is suitable for evenly balanced bikes--any extra weight (such as baskets), either front or rear, complicate getting the bike on the rack on the first place, and would probably de-stabelize it, as there are only vertical straps, no horizontal anything to counterbalance any imbalance in the bike.

Comments about Saris Solo Bike Rack:
I bought the Saris Solo simply because it was cheap - at [$] list price and taking advantage of my dividend and 20% discount it was too good to pass up.I've heard some negative things about these kinds of racks, but having a Mazda 5 I had a vehicle with a taller roof than a sedan and no trailer hitch. Either a roof rack or hitch rack would have cost me several times over, so I thought I'd check it out.Immediately, it was much easier to install than I thought it would be. Clip the straps to the top and bottom of the rear hatch, pull the straps tight. Took just a few minutes. However, as soon as I started to load my bike (a Trek 7.3FX) I began to see that it wasn't going to work. The bike was just too heavy for the rack - the rear of the bike was too heavy and was pulling the rack away from the car; worse the weight itself was pulling the straps loose. Not good.Further, loading and unloading the bike was a two man job. This is a one-bike rack, so I don't intend in having other people having to come along just to help load and unload my bike.I think the rack would be great if you have a very lightweight bike - a road bike, or a children's bike - but an aluminum hybrid bike was a bit too much for this rack. It was easy to install so I'll give points for that, but if you have a mountain or hybrid - it's best to find something a little more substantial.

Easy on and off, easy to attach the bike and it all feels very tight and secure. Best rack for a single bike, esp at the price.

Used the rack to haul my son's bike 1,000 miles to college. Held the bike like it was part of the car. Even a thunderstorm could not shake the bike.

It appears to be a nice rack, but wont fit over the low profile spoiler on a SAAB 9-3.
