Rated5out of5bywild river joyfromSimple quality belt with a little styleProduct as stated on the REI is accurate. The webbing is sturdy but not too rigid and the buckle has a bit more style than some "techy" belts. I usually buy a medium women's belt so I had to cut about 4" off the belt with the following method: Using a sharp scissors cut the belt to the desired length (I also eased the pointy tip on the belt's end a bit). Then using the cal rod element on an electric stove (set to medium) you can re-melt and seal the edges. If you haven't done this before practice on the scrap end you've cut off. The plastic left on the element can be quickly wiped off with a rag and left on a bit to "burn off" the bit left behind. This method works much better than using a lighter :0).
Look for it in the men's department; my local REI store didn't stock it in the women's area.

Rated5out of5bysierrabobfromTrue to its reviewsI bought this belt to replace the lame belt that came with my otherwise very nice Mountain Hardwear Mesa convertible hiking pants. The belt they supplied was extremely light in weight, but equally light in maintaining its cinch. Constantly had to re-cinch on the trail. The Friction Belt is slightly heavier, but well worth it because IT DOES NOT MOVE once you adjust it. Just what you need when hiking or packing a heavy pack over rough terrain. I can't wait to take it to the mountains.

Rated4out of5byAlec FotschfromDurable and LightI wear this product when I won't want my leather belts to get ruined by water or when I want something lighter. I use it when I'm working at the brewery and also when i climb and hike.
One caution is sometimes it rides up and can feel sharp on skin. But with that said it only happens on one of my pairs of pants otherwise I love the thing.

Rated5out of5byTripper MannfromAwesome belt, awesome productI bought this belt over two years ago one summer when I was working at a Kids Summer camp leading wilderness trips. This belt was worth every single cent. I'm a waist 30"-32" and it fits perfectly, its very durable webbing. Slight freying of the webbing near the buckle (but thats general wear and tear). I've never had a belt like this that could be used on the trail for tying something down or in my case, I wrapped it around a bathroom door handle while we we're taking shelter in the bathroom from a tornado. That door wanted to open to that storm but that belt held that door closed shut. So i guess you could say this belt kinda saved my life...definitely worth what they charge!
