Comments about Ruffwear Ruff Wear Singletrak Hydration Dog Pack:

My wife and I have a Cockerspaniel named Kouklamoo. Until now we had to carry her water, food and toys in our pack. This pack is nice because it doesn't hang low on her body. She is free to jump over trees on the trail without getting hung up. We got a small for her and it was almost to big for our 23lb pooch.

My dog prefers this to his palisades pack, and it's a bonus that it matches his fur so well. Fits water, dog treats, and poop bags. Snug to the body and light.

Comments about Ruffwear Ruff Wear Singletrak Hydration Dog Pack:

Pretty much perfect for what my pup needs. He's ~30lbs so he shouldn't be carrying to much. When hiking around in the grand canyon we all need lots of water. This pack carries 1L of water, poop bags, treats and a collapsable water bowl.

I only wish the pockets were a teensy bit bigger to put a tupperwear in to carry his poo poo. Leave no trace!

Comments about Ruffwear Ruff Wear Singletrak Hydration Dog Pack:

I love ruff wear products. i really loved this bag and the water bladders that came with it. Also the storage compartments was enough for a day hike for food and bags. When i first saw this this bag i thought yes now Loki can carry his own water!! Unfortunatly this pack was not for our 5 year old Akita. The loop where you attach the leash ripped on our very first use And the tear got worse through out our hike. That was upsetting for me because i really like this pack. So in the end we returned the pack no matter how much i liked it. This pack really was not for our Akita.

Comments about Ruffwear Ruff Wear Singletrak Hydration Dog Pack:

We love this pack! It's not heavy compared to some of the other packs that I had Elvis try on. It's easy and quick to put on. I was worried that he would get too hot while wearing this pack, but the material makes it lightweight and breathable. This is another great addition to the Ruff Wear collection!

Comments about Ruffwear Ruff Wear Singletrak Hydration Dog Pack:

I have owned the Singletrak for a little over a year now and absolutely love it. I'm fortunate enough to have a small dog, so REI had a close-out on a small in the coyote tan color for only [$]! It was the exact color I wanted as well. It may be a bit pricey for the listed price, but I think its worth it, especially if you do short to medium hikes with your dog.Pros:The Singletrak does come with two Platypus bladders that holds a good amount of water for medium hikes, but anything longer I would carry some extra for your dog. Especially on a hot day.I use this harness even during walks and runs because it allows me to attach the leash to the pack rather than the collar, which prevents my dog from choking. The handle is useful when you need to lift your dog over some boulders.Cons:The straps do loosen up at times, but normally it last throughout the hike. You just have to readjust before your next use. The pockets can hold small bags and keys, but I can't fit much else. I end up carrying my collapsable bowl in my bag.Overall I highly recommend this product. Ruff wear always make quality gear.

Comments about Ruffwear Ruff Wear Singletrak Hydration Dog Pack:

We take our two dogs on regular hikes in the mountains and this pack is wonderful. Our previous packs did not fit as well and snagged when rock scrambling. These packs are close fitting, do not hamper movement, and carry enough water for a good hike and potty bags. They are sturdy and fit like a saddle. My dogs love the new packs. While they aren't cheap, they are worth the cost. My GSD/Great Dane fits the XL, my GSD/Border Collie fits the L.

Comments about Ruffwear Ruff Wear Singletrak Hydration Dog Pack:

As a former police K9 handler/trainer and long time dog lover I have used just about every dog product that has come down the pike. Some are very good-others I think were designed by people who never saw a dog. I like this pack especially because unlike most other packs it can be adjusted to fit the dog snugly and comfortably-it rides close to their body and doesn't get hung up on branches or other obstacles. It is also nice in that the fit makes a dog who might normally be a little uncomfortable with a pack that sways side to side usually be able to use it with little or no "break-in" time. The quality is good-the design is very good-and the features make it worth the extra money. If I could change two things it would be that I would make the fastening point a little more secure (though I've had no trouble with it) and include a bear bell. The bell would be nice no only for bear deterrent but also as a locating tool when in underbrush or for a dog than wanders. If they had made these in black I can tell you that on long searches my police K9 partners would have been wearing one!!

I have a 60lb attention hound that loves to hike as much as I do. On a recent trip to Goblin Valley I realized that hiking here is a little more intense than back in Michigan and Heidi could use some help up the 8-12 foot boulders. Time to actually purchase the pack I have been drooling over for several months! I chose this one due to the 5 point harness with a handle and hydration pack. There isn't a ton of room for snacks or even collapsable bowl but I just clipped hers on the top and we are ready to go! we even got some rope to help avoid accidents with the big drops off slippery rocks...

Comments about Ruffwear Ruff Wear Singletrak Hydration Dog Pack:

I'm very pleased with this product. The Singletrak's pouches sit on top of my 75lb Cattledog/Shepherd mixes back, adding little to his girth which is a good thing given the narrow gaps between rocks and cacti he's got to squeeze by on the rocky trails of the Arizona desert mountain parks. If he does brush up against a Cholla cactus--the fish-hook needles are incredibly sharp, go in easily but come out with pliers--the Singletrak usually takes the hit, not him.

The zip pouches are also easy to reach. Two hold water bladders and I use the other two for food & waste baggies (so he gets to carry his own poop now instead of me :)

The strong handle & the leash hoop on the Singletrak's top applies force to the dog's chest and belly, enabling you to help your dog over high obstacles or break a fall without hurting them, as opposed to a neck collar which would likely pull off or choke the dog. It's not a climbing harness, but it's already helped on the trail.

It took a while to get it adjusted so it quit sliding to one side, especially with full water bladders. It turns out that the tendency to slide around is controlled more by the two harder to reach adjustable straps below the neck (especially on a furry dog like Buddy) than the straps behind the front legs & on the belly. These are more accessible, making them easy to over-tighten without solving the problem. Good adjustment takes time and patience but it's well worth the effort to prevent chafing and pinch points.
