The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Rated5out of5byalaskanknitterfromI would buy this for everyone I knowI have been using this bottle for over two weeks now and it still suprises me everyday when I put ice in and by the end of the day it's still there. I have used it for both cold and warm liquids and both worked very well. I had a non insulated kleen kanteen bottle and it works but having the insulated one is even better. I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend it (and have) to all my friends

Rated5out of5byGary the ScoutfromGreat bottle & cupI use the bottle daily taking coffee to the office and around the house and on trips during the weekend as well. I also purchased the Café Cap which allows me to drink from the bottle and then replace it with the loop top lid while traveling. This has been the best combination that I could have for general use.

Rated5out of5byBrimarfromPerfect size and retains temperature! In my opinion this waterbottle is a perfect size for short day trips or even just a day in the office.
I have read some of the reviews saying this bottle doesn't hold temperature very long. I happen to have another bottle, the Hydro Flask and that bottle doesn't hold temperature long at all. So I think the temperature aspect is not particular to any one brand, but rather a faulty bottle.
With that said, I have used this bottle for hot tea while at an outdoor cycling event in about 30ºF and my drink was hot for more than 3 hours at that temperature. Hot. not warm, but HOT.
I can also put cold water in the bottle and it's still cold after several hours when I use it at work, even with just cold tap water and no ice.
The only problem I can see with this bottle is if you buy the 'cafe-lid (twist to drink) it does not seal well, and the drink WILL leak out with the lid closed. The competition has better lids... but as far as temperature retention goes, this bottle has been very reliable. Plus you can get a variety of neat colors!

Rated2out of5byRhosfromLoses heat FASTOn a recent project, I measured the heat loss on various size stainless steel insulated containers (Thermos bottles, coffee cups, etc.). I started by filling each container to its capacity with 200 degree water. Below are the temperatures for containers in the 16-24 oz. range after a 3 hour & 10 hour period - numbers shown after the item are: temp. after 3 hrs and temp. after 10 hrs. The list includes this item as well as the others listed. I also included a pretty much standard (larger size) 32 oz. Thermos bottle and a "no-name" 16 oz. insulated container with sealing cap & cup/lid that I got free for subscribing to a magazine for comparison. Items are listed in order of the content temperature after 10 hours.
32 oz Thermos 193,178
24 oz Thermos Direct Drink 180, 152
16 oz Thermos Backpack bottle 177, 143
16 oz No-Name publication give-away bottle 178, 142
21 oz Hydro Flask 177, 139
16 oz Thermos Cup rotating seal 169, 130
20 oz Kleen Kanteen 167, 125
24 oz Oxo Good Grips LiquiSeal 150, 104
16 oz Kleen Kanteen 151, 103
16 oz Starbucks Cup 144, 100
Over time, heat loss occurs through the double stainless walls with a vacuum between them. However, most heat escapes due to poor design, location, and sealing of the lid and/or stopper. Specifically the lid or stopper should seal at or below the upper end of the double wall vacuum section of the stainless portion of the container and the lid/stopper should have some kind of insulation itself, if only an internal air space.
For instance the stainless steel Starbucks cup itself has pretty good insulation qualities on its own and the lid seals just at the upper end of the double wall vacuum section. But the cap is a single piece of plastic that just bleeds heat off the surface of the liquid inside. The Oxo is even worse in that it has the same lid configuration the Starbucks cup has but in addition has a band of about an inch between where the lid seals and where the vacuum insulation starts – BIG heat loss here.

Rated4out of5byCantrell55fromSweet little canteenThe Klean Kanteen is a sweet little piece. I fill mine with fresh yerba mate every morning and chug on it all day. Stays hot or cold for hours. Also great for day trips. I've filled it with my favorite craft brew and taken it to a few trade shows as well. Super wide mouth is great for easy chugging, but not recommended for use while driving or you'll end up with a wet lap.
Only downside is it's a little pricey, but worth it for such an excellent canteen. I wish they made a larger size that was double walled.

Rated5out of5byAkitoshifromTea TimeI bought this for storing hot water for tea. It has a small footprint so it fits easily at my desk or coffee table, ready to pour anytime I need more water. I also purchased the 'wide mouth cafe cap' for this size bottle for pouring. I imagine it would be well suited for camping but the size may not be ideal when space is at a premium.

Rated5out of5byOceanusfromTravel Tea PotBought this one because my 12oz worked well for coffee but was too small for tea. I tend to brew all 20oz and then use the cafe lid (sold separately) to turn the kanteen into a tea pot (reduces spillage). It keeps the tea hot, which I can then pour into a separate cup to cool for drinking. So far zero complaints. I have used my 12oz for years and besides a slight dent from one too many tumbles I love it!!! I was concerned that the larger one would be heavier for carrying around, but I don't really notice much difference. It is great for toting with the cap that comes will it, or using as a travel mug/pot with the cafe lid.
