Comments about Mammut Tusk superDRY 9.8mm x 70m Dry Rope:

I picked this up with my REI dividend in March, and after 36 pitches (I counted), it's become impossible to use due to kinks it develops during use. I've run it through a belay device from end to end to try to remedy the problem, but it's beyond help. We did 8-9 rappels on it, and all uses were leads (mostly multipitch outings) and bringing a follower up, until this past weekend, when we used it to toprope three routes. The rope has taken zero lead falls.

Comments about Mammut Tusk superDRY 9.8mm x 70m Dry Rope:

My boyfriend and I just bought this rope a few weeks ago. We have been gym climbers for about two years now and wanted to branch out and expand our horizons. This being our first rope we don't have much to compare it too, but so far we are loving it. We've used it in the gym twice and outdoors once. Its stiff enough that clipping in is pretty easy, which is great for us clumsy beginners, but not so much that its hard to handle. It feeds well, and seems to be light. No trouble with fraying or unusual twisting. It hasn't been long enough to say whether it will be durable, but as of right now I would definitely recommend this rope.

Used this rope only twice so far, but no complaints at all.
            Feels good.
Not heavy, even for a 70m rope.
            Comes with a center mark.
            Overall: a great rope.

Comments about Mammut Tusk superDRY 9.8mm x 70m Dry Rope:

I'm really pleased with this product after returning two New England Rope products for fraying/wearing within a few uses. This rope shows no sign of use in the 10 times I've taken it out, has a lighter feel, a gentler hand, and overall gives me real confidence.

I've taken one fall on it and it did everything it was supposed to do. Absorbed the energy, caught me, and I barely felt it. Word to the wiser - when you are teaching a new lead belayer his/her trade... be sure to be specific. Nothing like getting dragged off the wall 4 ft above your protection because they have decided to lock off the rope in the middle of a vertical move.

All in all, I'm extremely pleased with this rope. I will be looking for another Mammut when it wears out - which I expect to be a long time down the road.

Comments about Mammut Tusk superDRY 9.8mm x 70m Dry Rope:

Bought this rope roughly a year ago. I would say I climbed on it 2-3 days a month for this year. I was pleased with this rope at first. I liked that it remains fairly stiff and it is a decently durable rope (hasnt really frayed). However it has now become badly coiled and it is very frustrating to feed through a device (GriGri). I have heard others comment that this rope did this on them as well. The rope has plenty of life left, but is almost unbearable to use as the belayer. I will not be suggesting to anyone or buying this rope again when I finally get fed up with it.

This rope has been overall pretty awesome. it is a little stiff, but not in a bad way i feel. it has shown harly any wear after pretty frequent use over the last year. i gotta say my only complaint at all is that after it has gotten a little dirty the mid point marker is really hard to see. i think a two color rope next time around may be the way to go. overall solid rope.

Light, super easy to make clips with, and a dream for the belayer. Also, the new coating is tough and moves through various devices very well. Very good buy.

I haven't had a problem with this rope so far. If I was to have a complaint, it would be the stiffness, and the longer time necessary to break it in. Besides that, the rope is everything I hoped it would be.
