How do you get this stuff to work?

Comments about Nikwax Liquid Waterproofing Wax for Leather:

Am I doing it wrong? Followed the instructions and used this product 4-5 times and STILL water soaked in. I was hiking in wet grass and brush and noticed that the tops of my boots were getting darker. Sure enough, I started to feel dampness inside. Maybe it's the product or just me, but I'm going to try something else.

Comments about Nikwax Liquid Waterproofing Wax for Leather:

I've only used this on hiking boots, where I find it very easy to apply. Just hose & scrub boots, slobber on the Nikwax while the boots are still wet, work into seams with a toothbrush (an old one, or someone elses'), wait a while, wipe off excess. I find it excellent in the low-humidity Sierra for occasional melting snow & splashing across streams, but it's not up to constant wet snow or mud. Snow Seal is the only product I've found which keeps leather boots dry when constantly flexing in the wet.

Comments about Nikwax Liquid Waterproofing Wax for Leather:

Not sure about the other user's experience. I've used Nikwax products for years and have no complaints whatsoever. For first time application on any product, it's best to apply two to three coats as noted in the instructions. Make sure to get the solution into all seams, as you'd do with any waterproofing products. It takes a bit of time and work, but the results are well worth it. I've used Nikwax on hiking boots, shoes, and gloves. The only time I've had problems was when I didn't follow instructions. Like any waterproofing product, you will need to reapply it after hard/long use of your apparel/material.

      Does Not Work.

This does not work. I used it as directed on the bottle for some leather shoes. After a 10 minute walk in mild rain my shoes were soaked completely. This Does NOT work whatsoever. Don't waste money as I did.
