The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Planet Bike Blaze 2-Watt Front Bike Light:
This light tends to shut itself off requently while riding. Occured with the replacement light also.

Comments about Planet Bike Blaze 2-Watt Front Bike Light:
I bought his light on a cold November afternoon in Wisconsin after realzing that the sun would be setting soon and I still had a couple of hours to go before I reached my campsite. This powerful light not only illuminated my way, but alerted cars to my presence. I also use this light when commuting in Chicago--the blinking function easily gets the attention of cars, trucks, and taxis. The light is also easy to remove when I lock up my bike. It's the best bike light I've ever had.

Comments about Planet Bike Blaze 2-Watt Front Bike Light:
I use this for light for night communting. I can see a good distance in front of me which makes it nice when trying to avoid dangerous potholes and at the same time I can be seen very well by motorists.

Comments about Planet Bike Blaze 2-Watt Front Bike Light:
I ride mainly during the day on roads and paved trails and after having a near run-in with a car that didn't see me, I bought this light to use as a day-time safety light. I've found that it works great for this in the strobe-blink mode. Cars and oncoming bikes seem to see me more quickly than before I had a light.
There is, however, one problem which is major. When I go over a rough pavement the headlight can suddenly turn off. To check if it is on, I have to reach my hand out in front of the light to see the light reflection off my hand. This is less than ideal. The light cut off happens only with the front light and only on rough surfaces.
I've tried changing batteries, making sure the case is securely closed and that there are no loose parts. Nothing fixes the proglem.
I plan to return it to REI and get a replacement. The rear blink/strobe light works well and has never turned off like the headlight. If this problem is one that is unusual for the front light, than I would recommend the light to a friend. But if it is a design problem I would not.

Comments about Planet Bike Blaze 2-Watt Front Bike Light:
I primarily bought this for daytime use in flash mode. I discovered that the unit would ramdomly shut-off while I'm thinking the whole ride that cars can see my blinking light. Checked battery, vibration, shock to see if there was an obvious cause, but nothing I could control. Many have complained about this brand's rear light having similar issues. Get the NiteRider 650; see my review as that was a great replacement.

Comments about Planet Bike Blaze 2-Watt Front Bike Light:
Bought the 1/2W, not bright enough. Bought the 1W, not bright enough. Bought this 2W, now I can see the dimly painted yellow stripes on my local MUP at night on the way home. 5 stars for another half a watt.
I'm pleased to add that the 1/2W ended up on my helmet as a spotter for the front tire. All is well.

Comments about Planet Bike Blaze 2-Watt Front Bike Light:
Was looking for s solid, inexpensive light for rides that start pre-dawn or run into dusk/early evening. The Blaze 2w fits the bill perfectly.
It's not a bad deal at full price, but when it goes on sale or you have a coupon it's even sharper. So much so that I bought two of them, and depending on how long I'm going to be in the dark for a given ride I'll run them both.
Beam pattern running just one is fine, but by running two at a time you can point one close in and the other a little further out. With this approach you can get the brightness/coverage of a single light costing more than twice what you'll pay for two of these. Plus, using standard AA batteries means you don't need to worry about charge times if you decide to take a ride at the last minute and have a re-chargeable light that's not ready to go. (Assuming you have fresh AA's in the house... but who doesn't?)
5-Star rating factors in price/performance ratio. As others have said, you will find brighter lights out there. But it's unlikely that you'll find a brighter/better light at the price you can find this light. (That said, light technology changes so fast, that by the time you read this review there could be something twice as good for half the price!)

Comments about Planet Bike Blaze 2-Watt Front Bike Light:
I use this product on my four mile daily commute to school. Out of the box the product was extremely impressive, had a strong beam and was all I needed to be seen by cars and navigate through the city. It's design clearly allows the rider to see as well as be seen.
Four weeks later (after about five uses of 20 minutes each) the light dims whenever I hit the slightest bump. When the ride is smooth the light dims over the course of my ride. In both instances the light becomes ineffective at allowing cars to see me and severely limits my ability to see.
I will be returning this product.

Comments about Planet Bike Blaze 2-Watt Front Bike Light:
For the price, this is an outstanding, bright light. In five more years it'll be surpassed by better $50 lights but for now, this is the best at this price point. I owned a $200 rechargeable Niterider light that wasn't as bright as this one but again, that was five years ago.
I have no difficulty with the mount keeping the light in one place. A remedy for that problem might be to place some rubber between the strap and mount. For the record, it comes with a sturdy chunk of rubber on the band. The only problem I have is that when it gets dark, I have to switch off the flashing "see me" mode because it's completely unnerving, as another reviewer indicated. Works well at dusk, however.
Here's a weird deal that's not the light's fault: my wireless bike computer, a Sigma DTS1106 quits whenever I turn the light on!!! It somehow interupts the wireless signal. This inspired a discovery of free bike computer apps for the stupid iphone I carry on every ride in case of emergency. I say stupid because I miss the days when these devices didn't seem like such a necessity but, there it is. The iphone ap is unaffected by the light, of course.
Overall, great light and the manufacturer claims to donate 25% of profits to bike advocacy. That's a noble gesture, to be sure.

Comments about Planet Bike Blaze 2-Watt Front Bike Light:
The light is very bright.. the brightest non-rechargeable light at the time I purchased it. The bracket however is not very strong. It broke upon the slightest impact. I recommend taking the light off whenever it's not it use because it's so easy to break the mount point. They should strengthen it and maybe add some rubber so that it could tolerate some knocks.
