Comments about Timbuk2 Classic Messenger Bag - Extra Small:
Perception of any bag depends heavily on what you stuff in it, and the smaller the bag, the smaller the margin of error. The Classic XS is tiny, and you really need to try this bag out before buying (if you can) to make sure everything you have will fit into it.
The bag is constructed with heavy duty materials, and the buckle is positively gigantic proportionally (though, its well designed and oh-so-useful). It has almost no padding on the inside, and really, really needs a handle on the top of the lid to make short distance carrying easier. 2011's Timbuk2 Snoop camera bag had this same flaw, but the 2012 remake rectified that. Unfortunately the Classic Messengers have been without a handle since... forever?
I typically fill this messenger with my iPad (with protective sleeve), a M43 camera mounted with 20mm pancake lens, a Moleskine, a cellphone, and a few pens. For these, this bag is almost perfectly sized. But if I need to bring anything more (say, sun glasses), I'd need a bigger bag.
All in all, this is a good bag if your expectation is in line with the bag's carrying capacity. Due to the small size, this thing is not a very frugal purchase at full price. The Timbuk2 Catapult does almost the same thing at half the price, albeit with a tad less protection.
One last thing, stylistically the bag is fairly masculine, the oversize buckle, the coarse texture, and the hard edges make this ill suited for feminine users.

Comments about Timbuk2 Classic Messenger Bag - Extra Small:
This is probably the worst functioning laptop bag that I've owned in the last 20 years. It is shapeless, formless and is very difficult to carry....constantly shifting. Can't set it down and expect to stay upright even against a desk or chair leg.
Best used to carry lightweight papers and thus perhaps suitable for a bike courier.
It desperately need a top handle.

Comments about Timbuk2 Classic Messenger Bag - Extra Small:
After several weeks spent looking for the ideal messenger bag for everyday use around town and to the office, I decided to buy the Timbuk2 XS Classic Messenger. Two months later, I couldn't be happier with the purchase.
I was looking for a no-frills bag with a design that's basic and masculine yet still functional and stylish, and this one is perfect. It's the right size (the next size up felt slightly too big) and has a good mix of secure and easy-to-access compartments. I keep a point-and-shoot digital camera, iPod, Moleskine journal, wallet, pens, thumb drive and other necessities in here at all times. Add a book and/or magazine and it's still a lightweight, compact bag. I've since added the Deluxe Strap Pad (which is more comfortable and stays in place better than the one that comes with the bag) and Medium 2-Way Phone Case (perfect size for original Motorola Droid).
The construction of this bag is solid, from the material to the stitching, so I don't worry about this bag getting damaged; I'm confident it will last for years. And while some people question the necessity for Velcro on the outer flap when it already has fasteners, I was surprised to find myself using the Velcro almost exclusively; it holds tight, yet it still keeps the inside easy to access.
In conclusion, I carry this bag with me nearly all the time -- to and from the office, at outdoor events, even when just running into a store -- and I get regular compliments on it. Timbuk2 has me as a customer for life.

Comments about Timbuk2 Classic Messenger Bag - Extra Small:
So, a few months ago I was trying to find the "perfect" messenger or crossbody bag for everyday use AND that will hold my Kindle2. After hearing great things about Timbuk2 bags, I decided to give the XS a try. I can definitely say that it is a sturdy bag. Extremely well-made, and pretty indestructible. HOWEVER, it is basically a stiff piece of ballistic nylon. There's no femininity or softness to it. It was often awkward to wear, and I always had to fidget with it to get it to fall on my side properly. The padded inside pocket fit my Kindle2 nicely, however. In the end, I found much greater luck with the REI Annie Purse. I am giving it 4/5 stars because it *is* a well-made bag, just know that it's not very "cute" and unless you need something absolutely indestructible, it's a bit overkill for an everyday purse.

Comments about Timbuk2 Classic Messenger Bag - Extra Small:
This is an excellent little bag - very tough. It has so many little pockets to keep all of the small stuff from rolling around in the bottom of the bag where you can't find it! I've had it more than a year, and it still looks new. It holds enough stuff to make it a useful purse, until I had to get a new wallet(my dog ate the old one!) Now it's a little too small for me. Sometimes I had trouble keeping the strap on my shoulder while wearing a heavy coat.
