Comments about Wilderness Systems Commander 120 Sit-On-Top Kayak - 2011/2012:

Did a lot of research for a kayak that was versatile and fairly light. What I was looking for was a kayak that had much maneuverability and was stable enough for me stand while I paddle (like a paddleboard)or fished. This is my third kayak and so far the best for those two purposes. If you fish, you will be able to sight fish standing, and pole or paddle to where you think fish are. Touring with this is solid was well. I was pleasantly surprised with its agility and quickness. One of the nicest features is the captain's chair above the removable seat which easily allows my 4 year old to sit in front of me when I paddle sitting above him. I purchase the angler addition which is a little more money but has a number of factory installed features such as flush rod mounts, a motor mount (not compatible with the rudder kit) and an anchor system (anchor) not included. An amazing 400 lbs load capacity makes it hard to reach the limit of this superb kayak.

Comments about Wilderness Systems Commander 120 Sit-On-Top Kayak - 2011/2012:

I mainly use this kayak for fishing rivers and inland lakes. I really love how comfortable the seating is in this boat along with the stability it provides. Really nice room to stretch my legs and to store lots of equipment in the back. I would buy this kayak again and I would recommend it to friends.

Comments about Wilderness Systems Commander 120 Sit-On-Top Kayak - 2011/2012:

I love my Commander, even though it was my second choice, first choice wouldn't fit in garage. I had an Old Town sit in, great but caused many cramps and back aches. This kayak does not restrict seating positions and has 2 seats, top one needs back rest. It is great all around kayak just real slow and does not take rough water very well, just like a canoe, it can take on water. Great as a hauling kayak for gear. wish REI had the accesories for it.

first boat, great seat can recline or sit foward for heavy paddling or sit up in captians chair or stand up for a long time trolling banks. have zig zaged lake altoona for miles crossing open water in wind by harbor locks (turbulant water)with boats putting 3 foot wakes out always felt safe and dry. sits high out of water can outfit with a gazillion accesories for fishing can hold all the camping gear you need plus a trolling motor. my paddling strokes consit of left right boat always stays strait not a slow boat from sit inside position. remove seat for easy loading and transport

I'm a new owner and I researched many Yaks before making up my mind. This yak met all my needs and expectaions! Easy to load & board, handles with ease, super stable, awesome seat. I fish more than just cruise, so I added some assessories for that purpose including soft flooring to squelch noise. Yak transports easily on top of my SUV. I could go on & on but suffice to say, "it's great!"
