Comments about Osprey Stratos 36 Pack:
Weighs almost nothing. Great airflow on your back while hiking or cycling like no other pack I've ever owned, and I've owned many. Being a ultra picky minimalist the 36 can take you easily just past a week if the weather is not subzero and probably 2 weeks if the weather is moderate to hot and water is not 20 miles in between. Also use this pack now for all my cycle trips and when properly adjusted the M fits my 5'10" frame perfectly and the 36 is surprisingly aerodynamic even cycling though So. Cal to AZ to Utah to Sac Ca running into literally 50+mph cross winds in the Southwest. This is actually the first pack to keep my gear totally dry and sand free with the attached rain fly even while cycling. The stand-off back support did the trick allowing the water to just shed off the neck and back areas without pooling between your neck/back and the pack in downpours.
Now the, "Con". Being as this packs incredibly effective back cooling is a great benefit for warmer weather hikers and hard pumping cyclists or just the hiker that is tired of slopping sweat soaked bacteria infested clothing against your back a little more water capacity would be nice. Either a larger bladder sack compartment to hold 2 instead of single 100 oz or deeper side Nalg nets to hold taller/wider bottles.

Comments about Osprey Stratos 36 Pack:
I use this pack for day trips.
I like how this pack fits my tall frame. I was sold by the comfort of the hip belt and the way the cargo sack is suspended on the light weight frame. I can carry 25 pounds of rocks for many miles with no discomfort.
My only issue is that I need to rethink or relearn how to pack the cargo sack... as it is long and narrow compared to my old Eagle Creek summit pack.

Comments about Osprey Stratos 36 Pack:
My only issue with this pack is that because the fabric has a one-inch lip to hang over openings, the zippers tend to snag on the fabric when opening/closing. It's not a big deal, but it stands out to me as undesirable--and therefore a con. One other thing I don't care for too much is that I'm tall and skinny, and the straps are almost cinched down to their max on the hipbelt, shoulders, and load tensioners. (This is the same thing most tall/skinny guys run into with t-shirts: Buy a size Large so it's long enough, but it's wide. The pack is made to fit someone that's really big around, so for an athletic dude, it'll work fine, but you'll have long, dangly straps when you're done [you might trim them and singe with flame to secure].)
The pack is great for day hikes though. Because the back panel is fixed and the bag contours away from your back, the inside of the pack isn't as spacious as I would like, but it does hold a decent load for day hikes.
The two mesh pockets on the sides fit my klean kanteen water bottles very well. The shoulder strap pocket fits my iPhone, and the hipbelt pockets fit my collapsible dog's water bowl, leash, and granola bars. Inside I usually stick a hardshell, puffy jacket, fleece, paracord, headlamp, knife, and a few first aid items, along with a 1L nalgene and a there's still a bit of room left over.
It's balanced and stable when scrambling rock and fast packing. It would be a challenge to use this for multi-night with a tent and sleeping bag packed in, but it could be done. Overall, a solid daypack and great for hot/humid conditions.

Comments about Osprey Stratos 36 Pack:
Husband bought Stratos 36; I bought Stratos 24. Favorite feature: AirSpeed™ suspension and 3D mesh backpanel and LightWire™ frame ... we tend to sweat a lot when hiking/exercising (all seasons), and this feature helps keep it cool. Stratus 24 is perfect daypack; Stratus 36 is larger and can be used for backpacking and/or daypack. Built-in rain cover is a big plus. Very comfortable for multi-hour activity. BUY IT!

Comments about Osprey Stratos 36 Pack:
Ok, so this pack basically has it all, IF you're a minimalist. I've used this on week-long backpacking trips and it was incredible. What someone needs to realize is the WAY you pack can impact how well it functions. For example, I would not say it is actually DIFFICULT TO pack, but I checked that box because if you take the time to do it RIGHT, this pack can be used for week-long expeditions. Just throwing thins in doesn't work because it has an arched spine (it is not straight like the Osprey Aether 70). One instance is when I started placing my rain jacket in between the mesh and the pack. It was surprisingly still breathable and saved that extra space inside the pack. HUGE bonus is the ability to store it as a carry-on (a perfect fit). Excellent pack for a minimalist or savvy packer.

Comments about Osprey Stratos 36 Pack:
I bought this pack for a 24 hour pack and it fits all of my equipment and is super light. So far I haven't done an enough hiking to give it a 5 star rating but the ease of packing and spacious main compartment paired with the weight is awesome. The one downside I see is that the external pockets actually take up space on the main 'inside' pocket.

Comments about Osprey Stratos 36 Pack:
This pack is awesome for a long day trip or an overnight. As far as a daypack to use in the front country it is kind of overkill, but for any backcountry excursion it's awesome.

Comments about Osprey Stratos 36 Pack:
I was looking for a lightweight and small pack for multi-day trips. I tried on everything else at REI and elsewhere, but this was the only one that had adequate frame suspension and came in multiple sizes so that I could find one that fit correctly (most packs in this range seem to come in one size fits all or think you don't need an actual frame). I initially ordered the women's pack on-line thinking it might fit better, but the neck straps were so close together they would have ended up chafing my neck terribly, so I ended up with the men's. I've used it on 2 four day back-packing trips and it has fared well (admittedly we travel light, and my bf carries slightly more weight than me). The hip belt becomes more comfortable with use (I'm accustomed to *much* more padding there). It places the weight squarely on the hips. The compression straps work well, and my back stays nice and cool. It probably could use more straps to tie things on for extended trips, and the front pocket isn't very useful if the inside is full/compressed. Highly recommended.

Comments about Osprey Stratos 36 Pack:
I've only had one chance to use the pack since purchase on a trip to Acadia in May. The bag was easy to pack and surprised me on just how much I could carry. We typically day hike and I carry everything so my wife and son can travel light. The pack had plenty of room and performed as advertised.
