Rated5out of5byForest GumpfromAWESOME boot!Been waiting awhile to write this review as I had not had a chance to properly put these to the test. I did not comment on cold weather or heavy/light loads or wet conditions as I haven't tested them in those circumstances yet, but what I can tell you is that they are the most comfortable out-of-the box boot I've ever tried. Spent 2 long days hiking over lava fields and spelunking in lava caves and tubes and these boots performed spectacularly. The terrain was extremely rough and uneven and the ankle support was fantastic. No sprained ankles or rollovers. The traction was amazing, ultra-grippy. Lava is inherently sharp and while the edges of the boots got scuffed up, it only made the boots looked used, nothing serious. A lesser boot would have come apart. Comfortable to the end, I did not feel the need to change into shoes once back at camp. No sore feet. They look awesome, laces stayed tied. I'd definitely recommend for any outdoor activity.

Rated5out of5bykimberlyan2fromThe Perfect Boot!I bought these boots after scouring reviews for several different boots. I was unfamiliar with this brand so I completely relied on the online reviews. I only wore these on one short morning hike before I tested them on an 8-day trek on the Lemosho Trail of Mt. Kilimanjaro! They performed SUPERBLY! They were comfortable, provided necessary ankle support without feeling constrictive. I normally wear a 6.5 and purchased the 38. I was able to wear both thin socks and thick socks comfortably. Water resistance was better than expected...through mud, puddles, and snow.
PS. This is the first time I have ever written a product review...this is how impressed I am with these boots!!

Rated5out of5bySara the seasoned hikerfromThree years and my feet are still dryI bought these 3 yrs ago, right before heading to N Zealand for backpacking. I am over 60 and really need good traction. These boots had great traction even under water. Some of the trails ( Milford Trek) had us in snow, scree and water up to my knees. Bad boots could have killed me, but these never slipped, never gave blisters, worked dry or wet. I wear them walking in Seattle, fixed to snowshoes in eastern Washington and even doing chores around the farm. Today I worked outside in snow and slush for 5 hrs, and my feet were still dry. Only time I had a problem was when I wore them on a summer hike with temps >90 degrees. They were too hot and I had to change socks every 20 minutes. At 3 yrs the boots are still in good shape.

Rated5out of5byWoobiefromLove them!!!Purchased these boots in Cortina Italy when my old pair lost it's sole on the last day of our traverse. Sizes were limited and I went ahead with the EUR38 which was to perfect a fit. Ended up with heal blisters by days end. But I still loved this boot so much, I repurchased from REI a EUR39, put the EUR38s on the internet and all is good. Boots are very comfortable and not heavy. Most of my hiking involves a pack that's about 20-25lbs. with 6-8 hour hikes. Consult Scarpas sizing chart before ordering from REI. They kinda overlap the US half sizes with the EUR sizes and that's where I went wrong. I am a true US7.5, some what wide, some what high arch and the EUR39 is perfect with a heavy sock. Don't bother with the half sizes.
