Comments about Patagonia Torrentshell Rain Pants - Women's:
I bought these pants online since I live in Japan. I couldn't try them on so I went by the sizing chart and bought a medium. The waistband barely got past my hips but after that they fit all of me...though definitely high-waisted. I'm 5'4" and the length was great after I had my boots on. Like I said, they sit very high on the waist.
If you're looking for waterproofness, these are it. I climbed Mt. Fuji in torrential rain and didn't suffer a drop on the inside. They seemed to breathe about as much as a waterproof pant should breathe...not like mesh obviously but not rubber waders. They were a little heavy in my pack compared to other waterproof clothes and shells I was carrying, but worth it.
Walking and hiking up the mountain was comfortable, but I had to hike up the knees when bending or sitting down.
The pockets were well-placed and easy to access. Overall it's just the fit, which will be individual for each body type. Good luck!
