          I was looking for a slim laptop case that would travel well. This one is TSA checkpoint-friendly, yet has pockets for a few folders with papers. Also small enough to slip into a carry-on suitcase. Works well for my 13" Mac Air.

          First of all this come with no strap, that is an annoyance because it is not a true sleeve. "Sleeve" would imply a snug fitting item that does not take up space, however that is not the case here. It is quite bulky. It is not a sleeve as it has handles, but no strap. Additionally, as it has pockets and such you would think that they would be large enough for the cord/adapter etc. that come with any computer. Unfortunately no, the pockets are not sufficient, making the whole ensemble quite ungainly. So, this is not a sleeve nor is it a proper laptop bag, but something in between and functioning as neither.

          Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

            I looked everywhere for a sleeve that was not too big, not too small, had some basic pockets for folders etc., had a shoulder strap, and looked good. I looked at all the low end and high end companies (e.g., Victorionix, Wenger, Case Logic, Briggs & Riley, etc.), but the difficulty is finding something that is slim, with pockets, with a shoulder strap, and looks good. I couldn't believe it when REI made exactly what I was looking for as I had no idea they made laptop sleeves. It's a great sleeve that keeps your laptop protected when the sleeve is unzipped and provides space for files, papers, and other small stuff. But it is not too fat like some that try to advertise as sleeves. I like the look, the fact that it is made from some recycled material, and is from a great company.
