I owned my previous pair of Teva Hurricanes for 10 years before the sole finally separated from the bottom of one of the sandals. When I was looking to replace them, I really wanted to purchase a higher-end pair, one that would have more cushioning for the foot. I wear a size 10 and have a wider foot, and the only pair of Tevas I tried on that fit were these.

These are great for pretty basic activities--walking, travel, beach, etc. Since they're light, they are great in the water for kayaking or wearing into the ocean. Though I have taken them hiking, they're simply not cushioned enough for sustained activity, especially over rocky and uneven surfaces. The soles are nowhere near as cushioned and thick as the original Hurricanes. My feet smell better and they're not as heavy, but I would trade that for a more comfortable shoe.

All in all, you get what you pay for. These Tevas will last you forever, they look great and require little to no break in, but they won't function like a high end trail sandal.
