Comments about REI Sahara Convertible Pants with No-Sit Zips - Men's 34" Inseam:
I bought two pair of these, one for myself and one for my son. We then hiked 210 miles on the Pacific Crest Trail. On day 4, the seam in the seat of my pants blew out due to failure of the thread. Good thing I had a sewing kit along, or I would have been in trouble. Thankfully, my son's seat didn't blow out. By the time we were done with our trip, 19 days, both our back pockets were compromised by thread failure. REI did refund our money when they saw what happened. Hopefully they will improve the thread strength.

Great fit, a little lond in the length. Wearing Teva's it will come under your heel, with boots just right...
Convertible function is great.

Comments about REI Sahara Convertible Pants with No-Sit Zips - Men's 34" Inseam:
These are a VERY VERY thin material. Good only in the desert backpacking (less weight when its hot).
However, the leg's diameter are HUGE, like clown pants & pretty absurd looking. This isn't necessary, as the lower legs have zippers to get the pants off over high top all leather hiking boots. The pant legs don't look anything like the model's pant legs.
REI should either make the leg diameter much smaller (would help to keep dirt or bugs/ ticks out), or install a snap/ button/ clip etc to close those clown pant openings.
Those openings make you look pretty odd.
The only plus to these pants is that they come in an inseam >32" (REI only carries 32" or less mostly, in men's pants).
I would only recommend these for someone who can't find 34" inseams.

Comments about REI Sahara Convertible Pants with No-Sit Zips - Men's 34" Inseam:
Thank you for making something that fits tall people. These are the only ones that actually fit me (a skinny 6'3"). I WISH THESE CAME IN BLACK, WOULD BUY TWO OR THREE BLACK ONES. I haven't worn these enough to find any flaws, but I already love the way they fit. They don't restrict me in any way as I walk, whether converted or not. They also look better than any other short when converted as some of my other shorts look like parachute pants. Also love the fact that are made of nylon and pack extremely well.

Comments about REI Sahara Convertible Pants with No-Sit Zips - Men's 34" Inseam:
I'm a tall athletic female who is tired of trying to find womens pants with long inseams that actually are long enough and dont fit like a glove. Im a hiker out to bag some peaks- not some urban yahoo who enjoys slim fitting skinny jeans with no pockets and cute buttons. These are extremely comfortable for long hikes and very lightweight. The zip off convertable option is perfect for early morning starts that end up carrying out through the warmer portions of the day. There are veritcal zippers on the bottom of the pants so there is no need to take off your boots- hurrah! These pants pack down to nothing which is fantastic. The fit is very relaxed and more baggy then a typical female pant. However they do have back pockets which I find ridiculous that most female pants lack. I wish they would come with a different belt and more colors, but that is just a style issue. My brother who is 6'-8" also has a pair. Lets hear it for the tall people that hike!

Comments about REI Sahara Convertible Pants with No-Sit Zips - Men's 34" Inseam:
I used this product on a paddling trip and it worked great at keeping me dry from the splashing. It isn't waterproof, but it doesn't claim to be so that's fine. Dries quickly just as stated. I love the webbing inside the pants, works very well. All the pockets are convenient and useful. The way the belt is designed is quite ingenious but I replaced it with one of my own.

Comments about REI Sahara Convertible Pants with No-Sit Zips - Men's 34" Inseam:
REI's No Sit convertible idea is great. Unfortunately I will only be wearing these pants for day hikes, but nothing wear I'm in an urban setting. Convertible pants are great for traveling because you get both pants and shorts and something that dries quickly and can even be used as a swim suit.
I have 3 pairs of convertible pants: 1 North Face, 1 Columbia, and this pair of REI pants. The other two pairs are great. The North Face pair has deep pockets and best of all, a draw string waist. A draw string is much better than a rinky dinky belt that gets tangled in the wash. Draw strings also mean you don't have a tight belt and slipping pants if you happen to lose 5 pounds (which often happens when traveling or hiking). The Columbia pants don't have deep pockets but have a hip pocket with zipper that is perfect for a cell phone.
These pants don't have the great NO Sit Zip, but they have usable pockets.
The REI pants are great EXCEPT I can't travel with them. I can zip my wallet in the back pocket and put a passport in the cargo pocket, but there is no way i'm putting an iPhone in a cargo pocket or a shallow pocket that it would fall out of as soon as I sit down. REI I cannot use your pants when traveling, and that greatly limits my use of them. I will be backpacking through Asia for two months this summer and of the 3 pairs of convertible pants I have, the REI pants will remain in my closet.
REI or someone, please make convertible pants with: deep pockets, zipped pockets to protect valuables, and a draw string. These 3 features are far more important than not sitting down to change from pants to shorts.
In summary: The pockets mean I can only use these pants for traveling on the trail; nothing in the city or near other people that may rob me. Other features are great.

I have an old pair of these, and would buy another if the color selection was better. I'm not a big fan of grays and whites, preferring more woodsy browns and greens. Liven up REI! Give us some choices here!
