This season's Ultra Lights are made from a new fabric that makes them softer, quieter and more resistant to abrasion; 2-way stretch adds to their overall comfort
Lightweight Elements® 2.5-layer nylon taffeta is waterproof, breathable and windproof to 60 mph; seams are sealed for complete protection
Elastic drawcord waist
Articulated knees allow comfortable range of motion with no tugging

Love these - they fit great - I ordered a Small Petite(I'm 5' 1" and 115), they're easy to get on over my fairly bulky Keen hiking shoes due to openings at bottom. Comfy, keeps me dry for my morning bike commute and stores easily in my pannier without taking up space.

I took these rain pants with me on a NOLS Sea Kayaking program up in Alaska for 22 days. I wore them everyday when I was in my kayak and in camp when it was raining. They came through very well. They easily shed the constant rain we faced on several days. However, water still soaked through on certain occasions. But this was only from sitting in a soaking wet kayak seat for 8 hours straight. Rain shouldn't affect these at all.

Also, you need to wear long underwear or fleece pants underneath, the material on the inside feels really bad on your bare skin.

Keeps the water away! I use them for Dock Dogs and they kept me dry. These were lightweight and the extra material in the knee area is perfect.The shorter size was great, they came highly reccomended from a friend.

These pants have made winter hikes and photography expeditions in the Pacific Northwest an absolute joy! I love the rain but don't particularly enjoy feeling soggy. These pants keep the rain out, but also breathe enough that I don't feel sticky and sweaty, especially when I combine them with a pair of wicking long underwear. On days with only a chance of rain, they roll up small and light in my pack. Slipping them on over my boots (size 8) mid-hike is a bit of a struggle (but doable), but I didn't want pants that zip up all along the side seam because I didn't want the extra bulk, so that's the tradeoff. I also wear these on my walks to work, so I've been using them nearly every day for several months now. LOVE them!

At 5'2", the petite sizing was spot on. It was the perfect length, and fit. This pair of pants are the lightest pair I've ever pulled on over my slacks; they're barely noticeable except they also keep my legs warm as an added layer of clothing. Water beads right off, so when I got to my car after walking in the rain for over an hour, my car seat stayed dry because the pants shed the rain so well they stayed dry! An added bonus is the convenient small duffel stuff sack that the pants tuck into; it makes it easily portable and light in my backpack! These pants give me no excuse not to take a long walk in the rain.

I ordered a medium but it seems too big and baggy. I usually wear an 8 or a 10. I am 5'2" and the fit is a little long but the legs have drawstrings that fit. I plan on using these mainly for rainy days on the golf course and they have plenty of pockets for tees, balls, etc. I will probably send these back and get the smaller size.

I had to buy a pair of waterproof pants for work and was leaving the next day. They carried these at the REI store, so I bought them. The length is perfect. I'm 5'1" and they're just the right length. And more importantly, they work. I was in the Tongass Rain Forest and I just slipped them over my pants and didn't get wet at all. The one odd thing is the exterior is soft and comfy, but the interior felt a bit more rubbery and cold. Not an issue with pants underneath, but it would be nice if the inside was a soft as the outside. Also, the elastic waist creates a poofy belly thing, but it was comfortable and functional (guess you don't need to be fashionable when it's poring down rain). There are also options for cinching and zippers at the bottom too. A good investment if you're going to be in wet environments.

Finally, some great rain pants for the short girls! I'm 5'1" and these fit great. I didn't find there to be much noise with these pants when walking. My only complaint is they are a bit "puffy" in the front so they are definitely not slimming but they are exactly what I need for Seattle hikes and camping. So glad that REI has petite sizes now. Great pockets, and they have cinches if needed in the waist and at the ankles. The material feels nice and soft.
