Comments about REI Ultra Light Pants - Men's 30" inseam:
I am actually a girl who was in desperate need of skiing pants, but since I hadn't been skiing in 12 years, didn't really want to spend the money on new gear. I found these at REI and they were PERFECT (and incredibly affordable). Let me tell you, after having not been on the slopes in 12 years, I put these pants to the test because I fell...a lot. I wore thermals, insulated running pants, with the ultralight pants over the top and not once did I ever feel the wind or cold. The pants never got wet. They move incredibly well. The bottom of the pants have zipper and button closures that are ideal for pulling over boots. The only downside for me was there there just wasn't enough pockets. Other than that, I couldn't be more pleased.

Comments about REI Ultra Light Pants - Men's 30" inseam:
These pants are exactly what I was looking for -- water resistant, comfortable, and on the outlet site. Didn't want tights, I'm not that keen a skier, just wanted something I could wear a few times a week that would hold up and provide some protection. So far it's fitting the bill.
Service and delivery comments:

Comments about REI Ultra Light Pants - Men's 30" inseam:
Used the REI rainpants for trek up Mt. Washington. They were rated to 60 mph for wind and had breathable fabric. Performed well and kept me warm and insulated form high winds. Good fit. Wish they had a full leg zipper so I could get them on and off quickly without having to remove my boots.

Comments about REI Ultra Light Pants - Men's 30" inseam:
These are pretty versatile (3+ season) pants and a great deal for the price. I've used them to climb quite a few peaks in various conditions: from sunny and windy to glissading and snowshoeing they pretty much do it all. Super light, waterproof, and they pack down to almost nothing, which makes it an easy decision to bring them along even on days where you probably won't need them.
Only a few minor problems: 1 - sizing; I normally wear a medium, but was swimming in the medium and had to go with the small so check the sizes first. 2 - Not as wind resistant as I had originally hoped, but then again you probably wouldn't want to use these as winter mountaineering (or ski) pants anyways, 3 - they don't breathe as well as I'd hoped, so go light on the layering underneath them.

Comments about REI Ultra Light Pants - Men's 30" inseam:
I bought these pants, one pair for my wife, one for myself in anticipation of the rains since my wife and I are wintering on the coast of Oregon. The day after their super quick delivery it rained. I ended up both mountain biking and hiking in the pant and stayed totally dry and comfortable. Rain and wind, bring it on, these rain pants do their job!!!!

Comments about REI Ultra Light Pants - Men's 30" inseam:
I bring these pants when I go hiking and cycling. They fit real well over whatever other pants I am wearing. When I am cycling in the pouring rain I stay dry and I can adjust them around my shoes. When I am hiking in the wet conditions I stay warm and dry. They also pack up real well and are light weight for backpacking.

Comments about REI Ultra Light Pants - Men's 30" inseam:
Finding a pant that fits me right is not easy. I was delighted that these pants fit and they don't droop on me while engaged in outdoor activities. I use these pants for skiing and backpacking. With a pair of long underwear, they keep me quite toasty. These pants are durable, lightweight, waterproof and comfortable. I hope REI doesn't modify or discontinue this product.

Comments about REI Ultra Light Pants - Men's 30" inseam:
I've not yet had the chance to test these as rain pants, but I pull them on over my shoes and shorts to walk to the gym now that it's cold. They're a great extra minimal barrier for wind and cold, and pull right back over my shoes once I get inside. They seem a bit longer than the 30 they're supposed to be, but this will be fine when I'm wearing boots. They don't pack tiny, but they pack pretty small, and seem more durable than lighter weight pants but are cheaper than the Marmot Precip.

Great pair of pants, wore these in the deep south during major rainstorms. I wore these In Alaska while hike in -10 weather, wore them while I wa sledding with my boy, wore them hiking in 2foot deep snow.
Easy on, waterproof, warm, does great job at blocking wind. These pants are outstanding!!! For light weight cold weathe or wet weather travel.
