I didn't know that tires could be this hard to get on a rim. Also, I would like to note that I have change lots of tubes and tires. I was able to get the first one on (after receiving some blisters). The second one was just impossible. No amount of muscling by hand or with levers would do it. After killing 2 tubes I gave up. I can't imagine changing these on the side of the road so they're going back.

            Comments about Serfas Seca Survivor Tire - 700 x 23 / 25 / 28:

After several months of daily commuting, these are holding up great! Puncture-free (and my previous sets of tires suffered from frequent punctures). Durability is high, as is handling.

I'm surprised at the stability and security the dual-compound provides when cornering. I ride every day year round and these handle as well as any other tires I've used in the heavy rain.

Rolling resistance is comparable to other puncture-resistant tires I've used, and very slightly noticeably slower than 'regular' tires.

I mounted these on to somewhat wider cyclo-cross-intended rims and didn't have any mounting problems or difficulties... but since I haven't had a flat yet, I haven't had to attempt a change. I'll update if/when it happens.

All in all, I'm incredibly pleased with this purchase. A durable product and a great value.

Commute to work and logged in 5,297 miles in 2012, all on this brand of tire. I got 1 single flat tire from June to December, 2012. This tire is remarkably flat resistant. I was used to at least one flat per month before someone at a bike shop recommended it, and the price is amazing.

I'm overweight and out of shape, but I ride my road bike everywhere. I ride for fun (20-30 mile rides), commuting, shopping, you name it. So I bought this based on all the reviews, but then flatted on first ride through Wash DC in December. Didn't realize the issue for awhile because I couldn't feel the wire poking through, but after the third flat I started to wonder. Lo and behold, there's a piece of wire or something that rubs at a certain angle and pierced the tubes in the same place--once causing a pinch flat.

I am thinking of trying another one of these because I love the way it rolls compared to my slow Kevlar front tire, but I'm not sure if it's worth the risk and headache if this happens again. Hopefully I had the one bad tire out there...

Maybe I'm reviewing these tires a bit early, but I've had them a week (about 100 miles) and honestly I'm thrilled with them. I jumped the gun, bought a set of highly rated tires (gatorskins), and was totally bummed. I'm not an ounce junky and would rather sacrifice adding a few ounces for a tougher, heavier tire. After doing my homework about higher TPI vs lower TPI, I grabbed a set of the Survivors 700/25 since the winter commute will be here before we know it. I also threw in a set of the slime tubes. Again, I couldn't be happier with the survivors, definitely a great commuter tire.

I've only had these tires for about a month now, but so far they've been great! Really nice looking tire with plenty of grip. Lately I've been mainly a commuter in Southern California, so I haven't gotten to test them out in any rain yet, but they do very well in the warm conditions here and I have yet to get a flat. I've seen some reviews that say they're difficult to install, but I didn't find them any more difficult than other tires.

I was a Continental Gatorskins fan, but my last pair of those tires kept getting flats - averaging 4 a week after only 750 miles. Bought these after a friend recommended them. Price was so reasonable I thought I would get what I paid for. Wrong. These tires are terrific. Traveling my same routes to work and then all over on weekends, the pair I bought now have 1800 miles and not a single flat so far. Roll very well, but you do have to kept pressure near maximum.

                        Comments about Serfas Seca Survivor Tire - 700 x 23 / 25 / 28:

There's nothing quite like sitting with a group of 20 people (who just finished a 500 mile Cycle Oregon run) and say "it's been 2 years since I had a flat". You watch 20 heads swivel slowly towards your ride....then they all go see what tire your sporting.

I'm 195 pounds on a good day...and I've run my Survivors 3000 miles without a single flat across Idaho and Oregon. Weight difference between a Survivor and Gator is nothing. I did an 80 mile day with a half inch of rainfall...no issues with traction.

Careful going up to a 28 without measuring your brakes. I went up thinking I would get a "softer" feel on my aging backside....but the clearance between the tire and brake proved problematic with wet days and debris.

I agree with the reviewer that said getting them on the first AND second time is a pig....it's a good thing their bulletproof.

She may not be the fastest tire out there, but if you want to spend more time riding and less time with grease on your hands...these babies are for you.

This tire exceeded my expectations. It strikes a good balance between being hard wearing and grippy. It is a good choice in any non race situation. Try the 700c x 28's if your frame will fit them; the weight penalty is minimal and the added comfort is primo. I've ridden these on the RAMROD and during fast, loaded touring. No flats for thousands of miles helps qualify these as great tires! They are the right price, too.
